March Creative Challenge-Teacher Appreciation

Welcome to our monthly DT Creative Challenge.  This month we are prepping ahead for Teacher Appreciation in May....so we have put together some crafty teacher themed projects.

I did up a sweet little gift pouch, card, and matching Award for your Favorite teacher(s).

I mixed and matched a couple of stamp sets and used lots of die-namics to pull this project together. I just love the WTG-Teachers Pet stamp set....it's a beautiful image and FULL of wonderful sentiments.  Of course, I couldn't make the Award Ribbon without my FAVE FIRST PLACE AWARD RIBBON stamp set and matching Die-namics.

The little gifty is an easy to make pouch, that was inspired by Lesley Langdon.  I used some linen fabric from my stash and stamped a  few sentiments all over it.  I used my sewing machine to make this and it was really quick.
Here's how:

1. cut a long strip of fabric (or tear it), keeping the edges frayed.

Make it long enough, so when you fold it over you have a good sized pouch to fill.  I did not measure this, just eye-balled it.

2. Sew up both sides.  A sewing machine makes this go quick, but you could hand stitch if you don't have  a machine.

3. Pick your stamps and add your sentiments.  Since this was a one-time gift, I wasn't worried about ink choice. If this was something you might wash, then make sure you use a permanent ink.

I filled mine with Jelly Beans and tied it up with some twine and a gorgeous plaid ribbon bow.  I also decided it would be fun to give our favorite teacher an Award Ribbon to wear....so everyone else will know what a top-notch, #1 teacher she is.

I had fun with the FIRST PLACE AWARD RIBBON DIE-NAMICS and matching stamps.  I cut the base of the award from some corrugated cardboard. The papers are Jillibean soup.  I added a mat to the smallest circle with the SWEET STACKS Die-namics.

I added a Basic Grey magnetic snap to the back, so our teacher could wear this proudly and not put a hole in her shirt.  I used the magnet to hold it in place on the pouch.

We couldn't give a gift without a matching card.  I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch for this card.  I used the MIX AND MATCH BANNER DIE-NAMICS, to keep with the flow from the AWARD RIBBON.

I wanted the sentiment to really stand out, so I chose to not color my image, other than the apple and her skin. I added a few touches of school-themed product with the staples, and NOTEBOOK EDGE DIE-NAMICS (in the background).  Some stitching and buttons, finish it off.
I also wanted to added one more sentiment (I had lots to say...to praise this teacher) so I carried over a similar layout to the inside and this time added another thank-you to a stack of LAYERED LABELS DIE-NAMICS.

I am really loving (and have loved) the MFT cardstock.  I used Fossil, Hot Fudge, Gumdrop Green on today's projects. You can see all the cardstock in the Boutique, here.
