A Poppy Gift Bag with Gesso

It's another mixed media projecIt. This one was for the Mix-ability challenge on SCS from the other week. The challenge was to use newspaper and gesso. I made a pretty panel to add to the front of a kraft gift bag. 

 I tore up some strips of SU's First Edition designer paper and adhered them to a piece of cardstock. I then gave it a light coating of white Gesso.  I am not so good at patiently waiting for things to dry with mixed media, so I went ahead and used my heat gun to dry it. I have read that you need to be careful with this, since gesso can burn easily if it's heated too much. 
I added some Distressed Diamond stamps for some texture. I stamped them with MFT Kraft ink. I then made a pretty patch of grassy leaves with the stems and leaves from the Pretty Poppies stamp set. I used more MFT ink in Sour Apple and Jellybean Green. I touched the edges of my panel with some Broken China Distress Paint. 
Then I created a 3-d flower with the Poppy Builder Die-namics. The Electric Red card stock is so rich and yummy! I did the center with Black Licorice cs and a touch of Rock Candy Distress glitter.  i got out my Glue Gun and added my Poppy to the panel with it. I also used the glue gun to adhere my finished panel to the stamped gift bag. 

I decided to accent the bag a little bit more by stamping a larger harlequin print from the Distressed Diamonds stamp set, but this time in Black Licorice ink. Then I brushed on some random strips of Picket Fences Crackle Paint. 

One final detail was a tiny, Decorative Circle Die-namics, layered with a Circle Stax 1 Die and i turned them into a sweet tiny tag. I added more of the same stamps and tied it on with a Electric Red Grosgrain Bow and black twine.

MFTWSC116- {miss you Poppies}

Hello! Glad to see you back here. I have more Poppies to share today. I LOVE this set. I think you all do, too. I keep seeing these pretty flowers popping up all over blogland in the the SCS gallery. I also know you LOVE the new Blueprints 1 Die-namics.
 I used both of these sets on today's Wed. Stamp Club sketch card.  I adore that the Pretty Poppies stamp set has a set of coordinating Die-namics, but I  really wanted to just let the stamps shine today.  Aside from the crochet trim and white ink I used, everything on this card is from MFT! 

I left off the designer paper and made my own by stamping Darling Dots in white craft ink onto Electric Red card stock. I cut out the scalloped rectangle from Blueprints 1 Die-namics and stamped the beautiful poppy poem in kraft ink onto Kraft card stock. The tone on tone stamping makes me happy. 

Here is a close up of the flowers. Did you see that MFT now has a Smooth White card stock. I love Sweet Tooth, but sometimes I just wasn't able to get the crisp stamping with my solid stamps when I used it. So, Kim found some amazing smooth card stock and the MFT and solid stamps are a match made in heaven. The flowers were stamped with Electric Red ink and Used a mix of Jellybean Green and Sour Apple Premium dye inks to stamp the stems and leaves. I used Hot Fudge cs to mat the skinny rectangle. 

I used circle stax 1 Die-namics to cut a small circle that nestled right on the small doily  from Mini Doily Circles Die-namics.  You'll notice all my edges are a bit distressed with ink.....that's MFT's Kraft ink. It works beautifully for inking edges of all your cardstock to give them that POP!

I also stamped up the inside panel. The inks look soooo pretty on Kraft card stock, too.  I've just stamped along the bottom, leaving lots of room for a friendly note.

In.LOVE. Yes, I am! Poppies are sooooo, so pretty! And Lisa Johnson's new stamp set, Pretty Poppies, is soooo amazing. There is a coordinating Die-namics set that goes along with it. You'll want it, trust me! It's called  Poppies and Leaves. 

I used both of them together on this card.  I made a Clean and Simple card to really show case these flowers. I used some new ink, here too. There is a new green PREMIUM DYE INK joining the MFT line up. and I am soooooo excited (there aren't too many greens I don't like). It's Gum Drop Green!

I used it to stamp those pretty stems. 

I used some Wild Cherry Ink to stamp some pretty blooms. Guess what? MFT has added a Smooth White card stock to the boutique. It makes for perfect, smooth, complete SOLID image stamping a DREAM!!!

 I then used the new Poppies and Leaves Die-naimcs to cut out my blooms. I popped them up on the card front with a dimensional. A little bit of Rock Candy Distress glitter was added to the one flower center. 

There is this amazing text block included in this set. I loooove it, and had to add it to the bottom of my card. I didn't want it to overpower, so I stamped it in Antique Linen Distress ink before I embossed this panel.  The lovely sentiment was stamped in Black Licorice Ink and cut out with my favorite, Sentiment Strips! A pretty Dainty Lace Border cut from Sweet Tooth cs was added to the bottom. 

I have another Poppy sample for you today, too. I figured I might as well show you this one right away! Along with the new stamp set and Die-namics.....there are a few other cool things on this card that will be releasing. Are you ready??? I KNOW the DT is soooo excited to share this news with you.

I used one of the sketches here on this card. Once I had the stamps and my papers picked out this card came together in a snap!

You'll be seeing lots of cards this release from me and the rest of the DT members as we show you how beautifully these Die-namics work together. This one uses almost all of the dies included in the Blueprint 1 set. 

This time I used the new, beautiful Blue Raspberry Premium dye ink to stamp my poppy in.

 In the background you can see the text stamp again (this time in Kraft ink) and more of the poppies (stamped off with the Blue Raspberry ink). The stem was inked in Gum Drop Green. 

I used a bit more of the pretty Rock Candy Distress glitter to add some glam to this card. 

I love the double flag treatment on this sketch. I used the smallest one from the Blueprints 1 set to stamp my sentiment.  I tucked them behind the giant handmade die cut button and tied on my favorite Twine!
