SCS color challenge {my balloon}

I'll keep it on the quick side today. The past few weeks have been a little slower than usual in the DT obligation department. It's been nice AND I have even had a chance to play with some challenges I haven't done in a long time.
This was for the SCS Color Challenge 394. EVERY week there is a new color combo picked to create with. This one was: Not quite Navy, Pacific Point, and Sahara Sand (these are SU colors, but you can work with similar colors).

I went  shopping in my personal MFT stamps and pulled out this PI-My Balloon. She is one of the original, sweet girls that My Favorite Things released a few years ago. She's still as cute as ever.
I paired her with Jen's Deconstructing Sketch 70 (it reminded me of cake layers.....get it? it's a birthday card! Can't have a birthday without cake).  The newest sketch is up and I CAN'T wait to get busy on that one!

The papers are from Authentique and the two Die-namics I used today are the Circle Stax 1 Die-namics and the Medium Simply Scallops Die-namics.

It's all tied up with my new love....the Hemp TwineIt's no secret I've been a long time lover of twine on my cards. For a good while now I have been using the Burlap Twine. Loved that stuff, BUT when I went to reorder it a few months back,  I noticed The Ribbon Carousal no longer is carrying it :( I was worried about what I was going to do without my twine! No fear.....this Hemp Twine is even better! Try some, you'll love it, too!

MFTWSC91 {love your SMILE}

Welcome to another Wednesday Sketch Club Challenge. I have a pretty sample to share today. I love how this turned out. I am still on my Kraft and Steel Grey, neutral kick, and  I like it. I never would have thought to pair these two colors up, but  trust me, it works. The designer paper is MME-Bluebells.

I chose a sentiment from COMPLIMENTARY GREETINGS. This set hasn't left my desk top in the past week or so and it had come in handy for lots of cards. It's a great go-to set!

I layered up two of the DESIGNER LABELS  STAX 1 DIE-NAMICS. I stamped the sentiment on a pattern paper piece in Amuse ink. Those inks look GREAT on designer paper. I also tied around a generous amount of the yummy Hemp Twine and accented my main panel with a pretty LAYERED ROSE and tucked in a few ROYAL LEAVES. A pretty Blue Raspberry Button was attached to the center. All of my Designer paper edges were sponged with Distress ink.

Check out those three buttons....they are Kraft Buttons. I LOVE them....and I think I need to order another pack. I am going through them fast.

I stuck to the sketch with my other Die-namics choices.  I added the POSTAGE STAMP Edge BORDER along the left side and tucked in my favorite FISHTAIL FLAGS STAX.

Here is the sketch.  Give it a go.

You’ll want to be sure to play along for your chance at the weekly prize, valued at up to $20 in vouchers to the MFT Boutique. You can submit your entry using the keyword MFTWSC91 to the Gallery at Splitcoaststampers. Entries for this week’s challenge will close on Tuesday, October 2nd at noon EST.
Kim's Blog has the line up for this week's inspiration!

Be an MFT Guest Designer

Have you checked out this month's Guest Designer Contest with My Favorite Things??? If you haven't what are you waiting for?? You can't win, if you don't try. I might be a little biased, BUT....it's a pretty sweet gig, and We'd love to have you! Check out the details HERE on the MFT Blog or over in the SCS MFT FORUM!

It's a sketch challenge this month. I made this fun card for a special little boy, Jonah .  I hope this card will make him and his family smile. I used the fun Airplane Greetings and matching Die-namics to make a fun boy birthday card.
The ROUNDED BANNER STAX was cut from Kraft and Steel Grey card stocks. They were the perfect spot to fly my plane and add some JUMBO CLOUDS, too. Just flip the Banner around and it makes the greatest little frame (in many different sizes!).

I decorated the plane with a STAR STAX and the number 1 from BY THE NUMBERS DIE-NAMICS.

Along the bottom, I added the WONKY SCALLOP BORDER....I wanted it to mimic the clouds. Some stitching and a gorgeous GUMDROP GREEN bow finished off the outside.

I also couldn't help myself and added some more pretties to the inside. I loved that I could tie together the plane theme with the YOU MOVE ME stamp set.  A few more Star Stax cut from the same designer paper (My Mind's Eye-Life of the Party).

 Here is the sketch. I can't wait to see what you do with it.
The winner of this contest will win over $200 in stamp sets and Die-namics, AND have the opportunity to play along with the design team for the next release and all the Wednesday Stamp Club Challenges for the next month. MFT always has amazing stamp sets around the corner and getting (and stamping with) them early is a special treat.

Here are the Die-namics I used on today's card!

The Page to the Future {MFT and Retro Sketch}

I really enjoy the sketch blog, RetroSketches. They are nice, streamlined and mostly CAS sketches. I love having the chance to use my My Favorite Things stamps and Die-namics on a Clean and Simple card.
That's what I did with this week's Sketch. You can check it out here

The stamp set is OWN YOUR STORY. It's such a beautiful set, great for scrap booking and card making. There is even a leafy flourish stamp, like the Die-namics I used on yesterday's card....SWOON!

My card base is Whip Cream cs and I layered some MFT Kraft with Bashful Blue from SU!  That gorgeous text background was created with the stamp included in the Own Your Story stamp set. I added the pretty flourishes for that extra POP of pretty!

 I inked up the sentiment into two sections so it would fit on the layers I created. The sketch called for a fishtail flag, but I changed it up and stuck to an "office" theme. I used some Studio Calico vol.2 designer paper and gave the top a NOTEBOOK EDGE and then added a teeny FILE TAB from the MINI TABS FOURSOME  DIE-NAMCIS.  Love those things!  I finished it off with a sweet paperclip stamp and tied on a bit of navy burlap twine. Here's a closer look.

While we are talking CAS cards with MFT product, I'll show you one more I made the other week.

We have ALL winter birthday's around my house. Not always a  fun time of year for kid birthday parties, especially when they want to be outside.  So this year my oldest wanted to wait until the summer and celebrate his half birthday. He took a few friends out to our lake house for some fun on the water! These were his thank-you cards.

Quick and easy with a few stamps and a couple of Die-namics. I used the cool JERSEY DIE-NAMICS and stamp set  to say thanks and the no.10 was added, showing how old J turned. I love that you get both the big, bold numbers and some letters with this set. I used Amuse inks stamped on Kraft cs

In the background I stamped some DISTRESSED DIAMONDS in grey ink and added a strip of My Mind's Eye papers and a few of the smaller JUMBO FISHTAIL BANNER STAX pieces. Some grey zig zag stiching to accent the corner and the banners.

Thanks for coming by again, this weekend. I've got more to share tomorrow. Have you checked out the October Guest Designer Contest??? I'll have a sample up tomorrow.

Enjoy the day!  We are off to church and then soccer!

CR84FN {birthday sparkly flower}

I have been stalking the CR84FN challenges for a while now. I love the inspiration photos and the color combos, but I just never seem to find the time to squeeze them in.  I did this week! I loved the kraft, chocolate, and denim colors....they were right up my alley.

I used all MFT products today, along with some new pretty paper. I pulled out the blue floral print from the gorgeous,new Oct.Afternoon paper, Woodland Parkand paired it with MFT Kraft, Hot Fudge and Whip cream card stock.

I cut a two different sizes of LEAFY FLOURISHES and tucked them behind my flower. Did you know there are now 3 sizes of that pretty flourish??? I used the Medium and Original on today's card.

A couple of other quick things to point out. My favorite PINKING EDGE DIE-NAMICS and the greeting is from BIG GREETINGS. A GREAT go-to sentiment set!

My recent order from Ellen's Store came wrapped up in this cool, thin, neutral  colored packing paper.  I don't know what you call it, but I knew I could repurpose it for something cute. So I folded up a piece to give me mulitple layers, allowing me to cut many flowers with one pass through my Vagabond. I used the new FLOWER MEDLEY DIE-NAMICS. I used two of the petals and layered them up. I also added a touch of Walnut Stain distress ink to the edges and finished the top layer of petals with some Rock Candy Glitter. The flower is all tied up with Hemp Twine and a button.

Check out the CR84FN challenge. There's a DT call right now. I think I'm throwing my had in the ring for this one. Wish me luck!
