SugarPea Designs {Birthday Go-pher}

I adore this gopher from Sugar Pea Designs.  I needed a boy birthday card this weekend for a 7 year old and I thought the current challenge (SPD04) was the motivation I needed. It's a Clean & Simple card, while my card doesn't necessarily fit the "clean" category, it still is a rather simple design.

 Boys are all about grunge and mud, so I distressed my background and added color with a stencil and spritzing of my Tim Holtz Distress Markers. I used my SU Color Spritzer (I have the original one from waaaaayy back. Glad I held onto that thing).

I decided to not color up the adorable image. This gopher just cracks me up. It's from the Go-pher it! stamp set.  I simply stamped him on kraft cardstock with navy ink and used a circle die (all links below) to cut him out. I added the sentiment to a few colorful fishtail flags and attached them with some tiny staples. A scattering of enamel dots finished it off.

Be sure to check out the link up on the Sugar Pea blog. It's always full of wonderful inspiration!

Sweet Sunday Sketch 208 {it's your birthday-gopher it}

I hope you are having a great weekend. I have this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch for you, so hopefully you'll find some stampy time and join along with us. I loved this week's sketch. The wonky panels threw me at first and then I embraced them. I know you will too.

I just love this sweet little gopher by Sugar Pea Designs. I made a girly birthday card with him this time. I first stamped him on x-press it blending cs and then colored him up with my copic markers. I made the diamonds pink.....what girl wouldn't love some pink diamonds?!! I gave them a good coating of star dust stickles glitter.  I cut the gopher scene out and then mounted him on a scallop frame from the RC Love Note Confetti Cut die.

I had decided to use the vellum so you could still see the strips of pattern paper I have in the background. I used two MFT Die-namics for those, Small Scallop border and the stitched strip from Blueprints 10.
The second tilted panel ended up being my sentiment tag. I used another patter from the Flea Market paper pad to cut the small tag from Tag Me Confetti cut. I added a pink enforcer and some yummy kraft burlap twine.

Here is this week's sketch.

 Don't forget to see what the Sweet Sunday Sketch team has done this week.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a fabulous Sunday and a great start to your week.

I'm also linking this up with the Anything Goes Challenge (SPD02) over on the Sugar Pea Designs blog. Come check it out. It's always a good time.

Mojo Monday {Go-pher it}

New stamps make me happy.  I was one of the lucky winners of a gift certificate to the brand new stamp company, Sugar Pea Designs during their countdown month. Thanks so much Wendy!!! The release was last week and I ordered right away. Cute stamps!
My first love was the new Go-pher it set. ohmygosh!!! he's adorable. I used the pointillism coloring technique (using lots of small dots, in lots of colors)  to create his fur.

I followed the Mojo Monday sketch for this week,  but in place of the square focal point, I stamped my gopher onto a circle. I nestled the sentiment right along the curve of the circle.

I added a drop of Crystal Effects (by SU) to his light and then added some Stickles to those diamonds. Who doesn't love a sparkly diamond?!! A cluster of enamel dots and a quick wrap of some hemp twine and my card was done.
I can't wait to see what others do with these stamps. And I am really looking forward to see what Sugar Pea Designs comes out with next. For now I'll keep myself busy with this set and the Bussel and a Peck stamp set. I'm coloring that up next.

Have a great Friday!
