MFT Pep Rally!!!

Welcome to our Pep Rally Day! I have had some fun preparing for today’s post. I am so excited to say I SCRAPPED! I also have a card to share. I had been waiting for my new inks to arrive (I was enabled by Jody and Joanne to try the Amuse inks-they work so well with MFT’s clear acrylic stamps) before I played with the AWESOME  new VANITY LICENSE PLATES Die-namics and matching stamp set.  OHMYGOOODNESS….In Love. This set is sooo, so fun.  I knew it would be.

Now that we've teased and tempted you all week long, it's almost time for you to shop for your favorite Brand Spankin' New products from MFT. I have a HUGE post for you today. So hold on and hang with me.....

I’ll start with my card. I used lots and lots of the new, soon to be released DIE-NAMICS and some coolio Studio Calico papers to pull together this fun, graphic card.

I cut two of the sizes of the TRADITIONAL TAGS STAX DIE-NAMICS  and adhered them together (green card stock is gumdrop green).

I then cut a strip of the HEXAGON DIE-NAMICS, and another strip of the individual (love the options this Die-namics give you).  I used the smaller  hexagon, so I could layer up the strip.  I used this as an accent to the side of my tag.

With some Whip Cream card stock, I cut one of the VANITY PLATES, then stamped the letters, HB2U in Grass Amuse ink. I needed a pop of color for the tag, so I used the red polka dot paper from the same Studio Calico papers to create a tag re-enforcer (I’ll show you how I did that in a moment). I balanced off the color a bit more by adding a perfect sized star from the STAR STAX DIE-NAMICS.

It’s easy to make a tag re-enforcement (it’s the little details, that can add that wow factor to any card).

1.       Cut a small circle with one of the CIRCLE STAX 1 OR 2 DIE-NAMICS. I used the smallest sized circle from 1.

2.       I used a crop-a-dial to punch a hole in the center of the circle.

3.        Attach to the top of your tag.

4.       Use the crop-a-dial again, and punch another hole , right over the first one, so you give the complete look of a finished, tag.

Embellish as you’d like. I added a bit of PEA Pod twine and some twill ribbon.  Some zig zag stitching around the edge and this card was done. I really am pleased with how it all came together. Those HEXAGONS  just make me happy, and so does the tag….well, it’s all the Die-namics, really, that make me HAPPY!

Now on to my scrapbook layout

I am working through a stack of 2009 photos and when I saw the pictures of my middle guy learning to ride a 2-wheeler, I knew just what I wanted to do.  I scrap lifted the layout from one of my Scraps ect. magazines and changed up the  shapes.

Remember those license plates you could buy with your names on them??? Then you could add them to your bike, behind your seat?? Yep, that was my inspiration for my page. I made my own vanity plate, thanks to this awesome new VANITY LICENCE PLATE DIE-NAMCIS.  I added the sentiment UR GR8.  See my little sub-title, “so proud”.  I stamped that with the teeny tiny letters from the TYPEWRITER ALPHABET.  They were the perfect size.

The plate was cut from Tim Holtz Grunge Paper.  It’s a cool, pliable, sort of like chipboard, product and I knew it would add some nice boy-ish texture to my page. After I added the letters, I distressed the edges with some Amuse Slate ink, and then spritzed the whole thing with some Calico Shine.  Two spritz and that was enough to give a nice, metallic shine to my license plate. Some screw shaped brads and this customized embellishment was done.

Here is a look at this new Die-namics is action.  These are just a few of the ways to make your own Vanity License Plate

While we are still talking about the VANITY LICENSE PLATE DIE-NAMICS, I thought I would share how I line up the letters, and specifically if you need to re-use a letter. The first thing I always do, is establish where the center of my word is, which letter or space will be my center point.

1.       With this word, I had an odd number of characters, so I knew the G would be my center point.  I always start with that center letter.

2.       I needed to use  the R twice, so I add it to the left, were it will be to stamp UR.

3.  After I had the spacing correct, I removed the R and then added it to the right, after the G, followed by the 8.  Leaving a space for the R in the beginning of the word.

4.        I layer the letters upside down on top of the die cut license plate, and once I have them where I want them. I press my acrylic block on to the top (which is really the bottom of them).

5.       I then stamp the word, with the one missing R.

6.       Then I peel off the all the letters and re-ink just the R, stamping it to  fill in the space I left for it.

Here's a look at the finished plate, again.

I used the HEXAGON DIE-NAMICS to add a focal point for my title (which was cut from the By the Number Die-namics and By the Letter Die-namics).
I added some fun accents around my page with the amazing new STAR STAX DIE-NAMICS, and some FISHTAIL FLAG STAX .   I also added one of the cute MINI WAVY PENNANTS DIE-NAMICS.

I know how intimidating scrapbooking can be to some people.  It doesn't have to be. I snapped a picture of my page in progress and how I get things started.  Once I have my pictures picked out, I will then lay out as many elements as I can to see how things will look. You can see here, how I laid out the Die-namics I was going to use to see how it would look.  I already had the HEXAGONS and the License Plate cut out, so I used those pieces for spacing, they just weren't completed or glued down.

That's it from me for now....see you back here tonight for our MFT NEW PRODUCT TOUR....there is a HUGE prize up for grabs.....$50 for our NPT....the blog candy is hidden on one of the DT member's blogs and all you have to do for a chance to win is leave comments.
