I was Inspired to do more Green!

Okay, so I decided to jump in and show you one more Green Project today. I was cleaning up the boys craft table and was once again annoyed by all the pencils and markers falling all over the table. Do you have pencils coming out of your ears? I do, it seems that pencils are the little "goodies" to pass out at school. Since there are no food items allowed (due to food allergies), all the kids bring in little goodies bags for their birthdays and they always contain decorative pencils. I have been storing them in a few different plastic cups but they are so unstable and fall over all the time.

So I re-purposed an empty oatmeal container. I cut it down a bit and wrapped it with some fun October Afternoon (the nightlight collection is soooo cute for kids!). I didn't like the inside top of decorated container, so I added some fun wide ric rac to help hide the ugliness.I kept this very simple, and I know the concept isn't new. But come on, to be honest this is just a pencil holder for my boys and I didn't want to "waste" any of my precious supplies to pretty it up! LOL! They think it is spectacular and I'm happy that the pencils aren't all over the table anymore! See you tomorrow with a fun CAS card or two. I'm off to do a little distressing!

Limelight Going Green!

Today is the 6th of April and it is time for our monthly Six Chicks Project parade. This month the chicks of Limelight are celebrating Earth Day (which is April 22)! We were to use recylced materials, stamp some trees, make a seed packet, something that benefits or celebrates this great planet of ours-EARTH!

I love my Giggle Grove trees, so I made this cute little card trio, gift set to give to my friend. She is always in need of some cards and these were perfect little note cards. I used the earthy designs of Basic Grey Off Beat dp and accented them with matching Off Beat buttons. The card measures 4 1/4 square, which allows room for the trees to stick out, off the top of the card. See the Kraft corrugated piece of cardstock? It's not cardstock, it is a piece of chipboard I created by re-purposing a Kellogs Frosted Mini wheats box. The boys had finished a box up the other day and I pulled it from my recycling bin (Yes, I am happy to say we recycle in our house. It is amazing to me how much stuff we pull out from the trash to put in the bin and it makes me happy to know those items are not going to the landfills). I cut the box up and used small strips to accent my card after I ran them through my crimper. I think it gave these cards a nice finishing touch! Here's some close ups of the cards.

This One's for Kylie

It is my neice's birthday today. We are heading to her house for a little family party. This is my DH's sister's kid. My SIL had 2 girls and Tim and I have the 3 boys. We live literally 3 minutes away from each other and it is great. Kylie and my Ryan are only 7 weeks apart, and they have a great relationship. I was not very close to any of my cousins so I love that my kids are close with theirs. I think this set is fun to work with. Everything I used on this card aside from the cardstock you can get from Limelight Papercrafts. I love this one-stop shop!

Happy 5th Birthday Kylie! I'm tired, so this is short and sweet today!

Hip Hop Hangover-post #2 for today!

It was another crazy Thursday around here, not to mention GORGEOUS outside, so I wasn't online too much with the Unity peeps. I did stamp a few things though, just so I would have some Unit goodness to share today. Here are my two cards for the Hip Hop Challenges. The themes this week were Yeah Baby (make a baby card) and 3+3=Unity!

I combined quite a few images from three different KOTM's to make this card. Since I have boys, I am usually prone to making baby boy cards, so today I had fun with pink.
The 3+3=Unity challenge called for No more than 3 layers and 3 colors. I've been doing a lot of CAS cards lately so the layers wasn't an issue for me. I didn't think the limit of 3 colors would be a challenge either, but apparently it was since the strip of dp I used (October Afternoon) has quite a rainbow of colors on it. LOL! Oh, well, I posted it for the challenge anyway. The kit is Shine On and the rhinestone is by Kaiser. Be sure to check out the list of bloggers for the HHH blog hop. Stamp Something Easter-post #1 today

It's another 2 post Friday. I'll have my Unity Hip Hop Hangover post up a little later, so be sure to come on back. For now I have a little Easter somethings to share with you. This week our Stamp Something Challenge is sponsored by a digital stamp company (I'm starting to see a lot of these companies or at least this option popping up all over), Digital Stamp Oasis. Check them out. I'm so afraid of technology sometimes, but I might just have to give these digital images a try. The images are just darling. I made a 2-page layout for this week's challenge-Happy Easter Somethings! The boys had a fun with dying Easter eggs last year and I of course caught it all on film. Aunt Nicki and Uncle Bob sent us this amazing Easter Egg Coloring Kit from William Sonoma. OMG, it was just so pretty, with ribbons and flowers, stickers, and crayons. So we went all out with Easter Eggs last year!

It is always hard for me to get a good picture of a double spread. So here are the individual shots of each page if you want a closer look. All products are SU. I used the color combo-kiwi kiss, Cameo Coral, and So Saffron. The flowers are all die cut from the Birds and Blooms sizzlit die. The title is done with white chipboard letters from Hobby Lobby.

Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge!

You have to try this sketch, it is a good one! I love making circle cards, so that was the biggest draw for me. It's April!!! Spring is here!! That makes me think of bright, sunshine-filled days!! What's bright and shiny?? Metallics!! What can you find that's shiny metallic to use on your challenge this week?? Brads, Metallic Paper, Eyelets, Embellies??? Let your creativity "shine"!!!! You can find lots of pretty metallics at Limelight Papercrafts!

I have to be honest and say that I couldn't make your typical metallic products work on my card, BUT I did use metal. The brads I used count as metal hardware, they are just red. Everything I made my card with you can get at Limelight (except the New Leaf cs from PTI). The stamps are from Pink Cat Studio. I cut the little froggie off of Little Billy's head. I laugh at myself because every time I do a challenge I think, "oh, man, I wish I had that to use today. I would have worked perfectly on my card." Today I wish I had those cool Piggytales to pop up that froggie. You know what's on my next order ;) The paper is none other than October Afternoon. I'm an Ambassador Hostess!

I can not tell you how excited I was when I saw that I was picked last month to be an Ambassador for this month's release of My Favorite Things stamps. With this title I get to host a challenge in the MFT Forum on SCS. You know from my blog that I am a bit of a challenge junkie, LOL! I love playing along, but to come up with one of my own, well, I was a bit intimidated. Then I decided to go with what I love. So here you have it, The 3 P's Please Challenge! Create a card/project using pattern paper, paper piecing, and paper piercing. BUT, the pattern paper has to be hand made! YOu can use manufactured designer paper, too, but somewhere on your creation you have to include a pattern you made using your stamps!Have fun and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Here's my sample. I had so much fun using this new set called Monsters Ink. They are the cutest little monsters you have ever seen! I am going to have so much fun paper piecing these babies.
