MFT April Creative Challenge....For The Kids

Welcome....so glad you're here.  It's time again for our monthly Creative Challenge by the My Favorite Things DT.  This month we were asked to create something for the kids, something more than just a card. I had my littlest guy in mind when I started thinking about this challenge.  While he started playing soccer this year, he still sits through lots of his brothers' soccer practices.  He is always looking for things to do. I thought it would be fun for him to have some cutie patootie MFT images of his own to color (I often use practice time to get my own coloring in).

I also wanted to dust off my Silhouette machine AND wanted to finally make one of these super Sweet Suprise Gift Boxes.  I knew this was just the box to make to hold the MFT images for little man and a few colored pencils, too.

Here's what I did. I couldn't resist my FAVE Loveosaurus stamp set.  I pieced him up with some of that adorable Little Boy Paper by Echo Park. I also added some twine and two little tags with the Typewriter Alphabet (looks like you all loved that one too....it's sold out, but Kim will have it back in stock SOON!) and a Stacking Star die-namic.

I did up the inside flaps, too. I used the cool new, Open Zig Zag die-namic,
some stitching and my little guy's name with the small letters from the same Typewrite Alphabet.
Then here's a few pics of the completed inside, with the blank images and colored pencils.
They all fit nicely with some room to spare. I'm thinking I'll add a pack of gum, too.

I was going to surprise him with this tomorrow night, but while I was creating this, he climbed on my lap and I spilled the beans.  He had fun helping me design it and picked out which images I should stamp for him to color. When I told him the name of our Bear. He cracked up and said, "You mean the bear's name is Fred, from Scooby Doo? That's weird...."   And that made me crack up.

Thanks for stopping by. Check out Kim's blog to see the DT line up joining me today.  I know there is some stuff out there! Have fun!

Second week of Twist Challenge....colors!

If you been around here long enough, you know these colors are right up my alley. LOOOVE anything with kraft! Lisa A. came up with this gorgeous combo to work with this week. Give it a try-kraft, cream, turquoise and red.
Combine the colors with last week's sketch, or use them alone....either way, we hope you join us for this week's Ippity Challenge with a twist. Please use keyword: IHHTC4 when uploading to SCS.

Here's my card. I used Jen Del Muro's ASFYTT.  Did you know Unity was the sponsor this month? Check it out and play along.....there's some Unity Stamps up for grabs.

I used my {ippity} stamps today......Just Wanted to Say, Thoughts from the Past, and
Cherish your Dreams!

Maria is up next! Click the button and you're on your way.

Embossing Happy Birthday Tickets

After yesterday's post and having to pull my card, I decided I better get something else posted today. So here's my Make it Monday card for this week.  The challenge was touse Heat Embossing to your card.  I embossed all the stamped imges on my card. I do adore these tickets and the ticket die is so fun. I made this one in a festive colors scheme-red, enchanted evening, and new leaf all balanced out and toned down with some kraft card stock.

Where You Are....FWF

ETA: I am so sorry, but I had to pull my card from today's post. GOOD NEWS is, you'll see it in the Sept. 2011 Issue of CARDS!!!!

I love Friday's, well most Firday's anyway.   We are supposed to have a beautiful weekend and it's filled with LOTS of soccer. Should be fun. I also love Friday's because it's my excuse to show off some Unity. I got my hands on this beautiful Itty Bitty last week and I put it to work on this card. I used one of my new MFT doily die-namic to mount my sweet little bird house on (the bird house is also paper pieced with some newsprint dsp from SU).  The fun colors from the Hattie paper pack set the stage for my card.  I also added in some wood grain impression in the background to tie together that feel of nature. Buttons and a pop of color from my ribbon finished it off.
There's a whole list of Unity goodness on the Unity Blog. Check it out!

I think I'll have some weekend eye candy for you....I knocked out a couple sketches and challenges yesterday...we'll see if I get to posting them. If not, enjoy your weekend!

Mixed Media Backgrounds

My fellow {ippity} DT sister, Angie is the Queen of mixed media.  She does wonders with paint, ink, and stamps....you name it she'll work with it. Lesley Langdon also does wonders with different materials and then there's Arlene....beautiful creation after creation.  My list could go on, but I think you get my point.

I was inspired and decided to give it a go.  I pulled out some white acrylic paint, dyed it with some re-inks and painted a pretty background to work with. I did two, same technique, similar colors, but two different cards.

First one is an MFT creation.  It's so clean and simple and I LOVE how it turned out. Must be the beautiful new set, Inspired by Spring.  Did you order it?
I'm a self-proclaimed font junkie.....I'm a sucker for a pretty, scripty sentiment  AND this one is at the top of my list (for now, lol!).
Then I pulled out some {ippity} and meant to create another CAS card (I was working from THIS sketch from the  clean & simple blog) but as you can see....it strayed FAR from CAS.   Lots of layers and texture added to this.
There's a How-To tutorial over on the ippity blog for this one. Check it out!
Enjoy the day!

More MFT....it's Wed. Stamp Club and sketch no.14!

Phew....lots of posts this week and it's only Wednesday. I'll keep this one short and sweet. I'm diggin' my card. Papers are Upcycle by Cosmo Cricket.  The stamp set is brand spankin' new-You Color My World. Also new, the Four Point Frame for my sentiment and a little bit of old, notebook edge die-namic (with Jody's torn paper trick) and of course TWINE in Caribbean! Look close and you'll also see I added some Crystal Effects to the paint blobs, giving it a bit more realistic, wet look!

Join the fun with our MFT WSC.

Remember that every week, one lucky participant will win $15, and you can make that $20 if your project uses MFT Stamps. Its a great way to get a little something extra for yourself! Please join us in our weekly chat and chatter thread on the MFT Forum on Splitcoast its a great place to catch up with your fellow MFT Fans and the MFT Design Team too.

Kim's got the line up from the Challenge Team and participating DT members.
We ♥ our sketches!

MFT Hop & Shop Blog hop....April

We made it! It's finally release night and you can fill your cart (or wait for your ship notice if you've already placed your order!!!) with all the new release goodies! So what was your fave? I know, hard to pick just one....so feel free to tell me a few.
It's time for our DT Hop & Shop Blog Hop. Hopefully you just arrived from the talents of Arlene.  If not, you'll want to visit Kim's Blog to get the hop started so you don't miss any of the fabulous details.

Tonight I get to show off the new flapper doodle set with you.  It's called Hold Me Tight and it's the sweetest mother daughter set. There are some great sentiments included and the extra little hearts you can stamp where ever you want....yeah, pretty sweet!

I was still feeling a bit of the shabby chic from this month's challenge when I made this. Something about these papers....I just adore this sentiment.

I paired it up with one of my favorite die-namics from this release.  That's hard to say, cuz you know I love my die-namics.  This one is a circle and it's has great open scallops all around it. It's large and just pefect!  See it tucked in the background in yellow???

I'm sending you on your way. Thanks for all your wonderful, kind words this release. They really do make me smile and sure feel good. It's been another fabulous release, hope you thought so, too.

I'll race you to the talented Jodi! I'm dying to see what she's done.

See you back here in a bit with my WSC card.  I used another new set, one of the cute PI's I told you I was saving up.
