MFT-Ambassador Challenges

Last night was a MFT release party. I had every intention of popping in on the fun, but of course it never happened. Evenings around here are just too hectic and I am just too tired after the boys go to bed. I did take part in the two Ambassador challenges. My good friend, Crystal was the hostess for one of them, so how could I pass that up? She challenged us to use two different scraps of designer paper from our scrap pile and add some sponging to our card somewhere. I got my Tea for Two set a little inky and created these two cards. This little mouse just makes me smile. The dsp is from SU and I colored the rest with copics. The ribbon is yummy MFT pink satin ribbon and I added a basic grey corduroy button for some extra texture. The second Ambassador challenge was to use Pink and Brown on your card. I did just that with the other cute image from this set, the two bunnies in the tea cup.
I love how I made my own little tea bag with SU's small tag punch and some linen thread. I colored with copics again and then everything else is SU-ribbon and paper. Love fun stamps! Go check out the new one's MFT just released. Ca-ute stuff, I tell you. I have no extra stamping money right now, so I'm sad to say, "no new stamps for me!" Thanks for stopping by! Happy Thursday. I'm hoping to hang out with the Unity Hip Hoppers later today!See you over there. Hugs, Lisa

Six Chicks Project Parade

Just in case you didn't know, today is the 6th of May. That means today I get to share the Limelight monthly project I've been working on. It's all things baby around here. I don't know about you, but I have quite a few friends that are having babies or have just had babies. And you know what, they are all BOYS! I haven't gotten to make a cute little baby girl card in soooo long. Most of my baby stamps are from Stampin' Up!, so I had to make due with what I have from Limelight. Which is fine, might as well get your monies worth from your stamps, right?! I chose to use the cute little ice cream stamps from Unity which used to be called Delectable Delights (looks like you can still get this smaller set, at Limelight) and is now part of the bigger, newer version of Mix of Cuteness.
My girlfriend Kim just had her third baby, so she doesn't really need anything, but of course I wanted to give her a little something. You always need new onesies for each baby you have. So, I stamped on the undershirt. ETA: I used Pallet Inks from Papertrey Ink on the Onsies-Ocean Tides, Summer Sunrise, and chocolate.

Next came the packaging. You always want to make the gift look cute and I ran through a couple ideas in my head that just didn't work. Then it hit me, I could use the packaging the Onesies came in and just re-do the insert with some fun designer paper. I pulled the insert out and traced it on some October Afternoon dp, cut it out and slid it back into the plastic. I rolled up the undershirts and put them back in.

What gift isn't complete without a coordinating card? I used the same CAS sketch from yesterday's SCS challenge along with the same ice cream images I used on the Onesies and made this cute little card.

I used some of this ribbon and one of these buttons to embellish this card. I know, it isn't your traditional baby card, but that's what I love about it, especially for a 3rd baby. Aren't all babies full of Sweet Stuff? I then slid the card into the back side of the packaging to complete the look of the gift, and hey, no envelope was needed!
Thanks for checking out my baby gift idea. I know, lots of pictures today, thanks for baring with me. I do have one more to share and it is for all of you who stop by my little corner of the blogging world. These are the beautiful irises I cut from my yard yesterday.
I couldn't resist cutting some and putting them in a vase. They have made me smile all day! I hope they make you smile too.
So now, follow me and see what the other six chicks have to share today. We have a new DT member, since Becky finished off her stint with Limelight last month. We are happy to have Amy Castellano join us (she was a guest designer back a month ago). We also have a new guest designer for the month of May, please welcome, Amy Tsuruta. A Wise Owl Once Told Me...

Here is my card from yesterday's CAS challenge on SCS. It was a sketch challenge based off of this super cute card. I used Wise Owl by Papertrey Ink along with Momento Rich Cocoa and raspberry fizz and summer sunrise. The card base is white textured cs and I added some stitching, a button, some ribbon, a brad and a rhinestone to add some interest.

I'm tired this morning, so not a lot of chit chat. I fell asleep on the couch for almost two hours at bedtime, went up stairs to my bed only to be woken up around 1:30 am to Nicholas crying out. He went back to sleep quickly, but it was enough to wake me up fully so I could NOT fall back asleep. Ugh! I think I fell asleep again after 4 am and then had to be up at 6:40 with Joshua. I need a nap. Hugs, Lisa

You Shine

Don't you just love it when a page (or a card) just falls into place so quickly? That's what happened with this scrapbook page. I followed another of Jennifer Buck's CAS scrapbook layouts and pulled this together. I did have a bit of incentive to getting it done so quickly, I have to admit. Over in the My Unity Place forum (have you been there yet? go check it out, it is a place to gather, share, and chit chat with all the Unity peeps!) Angela is offering up an awesome prize to one lucky winner who uploads a page using this sketch by Monday, May 4!So this is the page I did of my little guy. He had just woke up from a nap and Tim snapped these three cute little pictures. I made my photo box a little bigger to accommodate the extra photos. I used a sheet of textured Riding Hood red cs from my base and then cut down this awesome dsp from the Rockability specialty paper pack to 11x11. The stamps are from Unity-Heartfelt Memories and Hearts of Old background (punched out with the heart trio punch by SU). The Shine sentiment is from the April KOTM. My journaling reads: Even when you are just waking up, your smile shines (the PTI, Simple Alpha was perfect for accenting this one word in my text). Daddy took these one afternoon after naptime. Love those dimples! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Lisa

Recreating Myself...

...well, my first uploaded card, anyway. After Kristin saw this post of mine from earlier this week she was inspired to go looking for her first upload. Then we chatted about the challenge and thought it would be fun to re-create our own first card and give it an updated look.

So here it is, my updated and recreated self. I love this layout and have done some similar over the years. I used the 5th Ave. Floral stamp set to stamp the flower images on the main panel and added the sentiment from Great Friend (yes, I love this little scripty "for you"). I did some stitching around the outside to create a fun border and finished it off with a ribbon tab and a corduroy button. The dsp I used is Urban Oasis. I challenge you to come do the same. It really is fun. Here are the full deets on the "official" challenge, over on the GSG Blog. Hugs, Lisa

Happy Birthday to Unity! Hip Hop Hangover Style!

Hip Hop Hangover

WoW what a week! Unity Stamp Co. turns 1 and this week has been one big long birthday celebration! Lots of games, prizes, and challenges. There is a HUGE grand prize involved for playing along in the challenges this week. One winner from each contest (there has been one each daythis week) will be chosen and then those will be put to the vote. The card/project that gets the most votes WINS the Unity KOTM FREE for a WHOLE YEAR! Now you know why I was placing so much pressure on myself -it is a huge prize. Keeping my fingers crossed that one of my cards makes it into the final round. Here are a few I have been working on this week.

This one was for Maren's Wednesday Cake Inspiration Challenge. There were some awesome cakes to choose from. Here is the one I based my card off of.

This was Jeanne's Thursday Challenge to create a single layer birthday card. I finally inked up this tiny version of my FAVE Unity kit, Giggle Grove. This is called, Tiny Giggle Grove. I {{{heart}}} these little trees. So that's my Unity goodness for you today. Great Sale going on over at Unity. If you need more Unity or have been wanting to order some for the first time, this weekend is the time to do it. Everything is 30% off! Happy Firday! Check out the rest of Hip Hop Hangover girls, here or on Angela's blog. Hugs, Lisa

Stamp Something-Ode to Cindy!

The next month with Stamp Something is kind of bitter sweet. The orginal DT members are moving on. Sniff, sniff! To honor them, we are CASING one of the members each week with our theme. This week is Cindy's week. This woman is soooo talented and I had the amazing pleasure of meeting her and hanging out with her last year at SU Convention. She's so sweet and fun. The theme this week is to Stamp Something for mom! Yep, Mother's Day is right around the corner so we are helping you out with getting a jump on the cards or projects you want to make for the special woman in your life. I chose to CASE this card of Cindy's. I LOVED the layout and the colors. I used papers from my 2 Sweet Simply Scrappin' Kit to start this card off. The branch is from Thoughts and Prayers and the sentiment is from Great Friend. I decorated the inside with my Happy Mother's Day sentiment and some tone-on-tone stamping of the branch image. Sorry, I always forget to take a picture of the inside of the card when I do them and now I am too lazy and short on time to go do it. Stop by the Stamp Something blog and see the rest of the DT creations. Thanks Cindy for all your inspiration. I'm not worried, I know where to find you! Hugs, Lisa
