The tree and a color challenge

I think this set is like Baroque motifs in the sense that I don't think you can create an ugly card with it. The branch and the tree are just too gorgeous! While I LOVE how this card turned out, it also makes me sad to know why I had to make it. A dear friend of mine from high school lost her mom this weekend. My heart and prayers go out to her and her family as they remember and grieve for their mom. Okay, no easy segway so I'll just jump into the card now. In true procrsatination style (I was supposed to be working on my tax info yesterday) I decided to play along with the SCS color challenge-Kiwi kiss, chocolate chip, and pink passion! I played around a bit with the right balance of these colors. Isn't it cool how we can totally change the feel of a card just by adding more of one color and less of another?
I inked up the tree with markers and then inked up the branch in pink passion ink. I cut out about 5 of the flowers from the branch and added them to the tree. I really like to layered up my punches, it is a great way to add some pop of color and to tie together a color combo. Here I used the scallop square, the 1 1/4 square, and the lg. oval (you'll be happy to know the new SU mini will have a scalloped oval punch!!!). I finished it off with a button from the Button Latte assortment and tied a piece of PTI raspberry fizz satin ribbon on. I aslo decided to do up the inside of the card (all the cool stampers are doing it, so I had to try it too) plus with this set, there are some beautiful verses to make it just right. Happy Wednesday! Oh, and you'll be happy to know my Ryan turned the corner yesterday and is feeling almost 100%. He is even going to school today!
Hugs, Lisa

  3. SO much to comment on... First, I'm so glad Ryan is on the mend! I bet he's glad its all overwith (and so is mom!).

On to your card- WOW! I love how you put these colors together and you are so right about how much the look can change by adding/taking away color. The hint of a pink scallop at the top looks fabulous- and the so do the flowers on the tree!

Good to know on the inside and how the "cool stampers" are doing it- guess I'll jump on that bandwagon! Tee hee. My problem is, I do the inside, but can't get my darn card to stand up so I can photo it. How do the cool stampers do that???
