Getting Scrappy with MFT {MFTSCRAP1}

Yes, you read that title right. It's a BRAND NEW, exciting time for MFT and YOU!!! We are introducing a monthly Scrapbooking Challenge!! I am so giddy with excitement. I have NO excuses now to NOT scrap....a monthly challenge, a whole new LINE of STAMPS and Die-NAMICS geared just for scrapbooking!!!

I pulled out some pictures from 2009. These were from my college BFF's wedding weekend in Ann Arbor.  We have season tickets to the UofM football season, so we took the boys to the game for the afternoon. Yes, it was a handful, but all three boys enjoy football and the whole experience of walking into The Big House is always worth it. This was little man's first game!

We had a beautiful day and seeing this page, just makes my heart happy.

I used THIS awesome sketch to make it happen.

Here is the Project Life version. I plan to use this one as well.
You'll see it later in the month.

The three photos on the left I quickly cut down to size with the help of the new Liana Lamb Line by MFT. This was the INSERT IT Die-namics. I used Sweet tooth and Hot Fudge card stocks to matt the photos and create the photo strip. (I have plans to use the Project LIfe form of this sketch too....and this Die-namics will be used again. So much, that I DID order a second one to make my cropping even faster!).

The designer papers are from my stash and I believe both are from My Mind's Eye.

I mixed up some fonts to create my title. The new HIGHRISE ALPHABET-UPPER CASE, for the word, House.  "Big" was cut with the BY THE LETTER-UPPERCASE, and then I stamped the word "the" with the letters included in the JERSEY STAMP SET.  I knew the varsity feel of those letters was a great fit with a sports themed page. (all links are listed below).

I used a white woodgrain designer paper for my center strip and accented it with a cool, Hot Fudge Harlequin strip. I cut two and pieced them together to make them fit the full 12 inches across. You can easily hide a seam under a photo or embellie.

SCRAPBOOKING TIP: To help stretch your card stock supplies AND lighten my page (and ultimately my albums)  I always cut out a square from my base paper. Just make sure it is hidden from another layer. Here I layered the ledger paper (11x11) over my navy 12 x12 sheet.

Here is what the back side of my page looks like.

I then used that cut square to die cut my lettters. Ensures I have matching embellies, too!

A football cut from the ALL STAR Die-namics was an obvious choice for the circle element in the upper left corner of the photo strip. I further accented it with a LEMON DROP BUTTON tied up with some DENIM TWINE.

To help with the balance of the layout, I followed the sketch and added a few extra goodies in the upper right corner of the page.

I used the Lisa Johnson DISTRESSED DIAMONDS BACKGROUND stamp set to add a subtle print. I then layered a stamped football helmet from the ALL STAR STAMP SET. The banner is cut from the same woodgrain designer paper with the FISHTAIL FLAGS STAX LAYERS DIE-NAMICS.
I used the rules of three and added two more buttons here in Lemon Drop and Night Shift Blue. These two buttons help balance the one I used on the left side.

Finally I used both of the FISHTAIL FLAGS Die-namics sets to create a tiny spot to journal.

Can't wait to see what you come up with this month. Have fun and try something new!!!

  7. Fabulous layout. Great colors and embellies. I like to be frugal and cut the middle out of my base layers also. It is great for mats and for titles the way you used it. Thanks for sharing.
