Mojo Monday {Go-pher it}

New stamps make me happy.  I was one of the lucky winners of a gift certificate to the brand new stamp company, Sugar Pea Designs during their countdown month. Thanks so much Wendy!!! The release was last week and I ordered right away. Cute stamps!
My first love was the new Go-pher it set. ohmygosh!!! he's adorable. I used the pointillism coloring technique (using lots of small dots, in lots of colors)  to create his fur. 

I followed the Mojo Monday sketch for this week,  but in place of the square focal point, I stamped my gopher onto a circle. I nestled the sentiment right along the curve of the circle. 

I added a drop of Crystal Effects (by SU) to his light and then added some Stickles to those diamonds. Who doesn't love a sparkly diamond?!! A cluster of enamel dots and a quick wrap of some hemp twine and my card was done. 

I can't wait to see what others do with these stamps. And I am really looking forward to see what Sugar Pea Designs comes out with next. For now I'll keep myself busy with this set and the Bussel and a Peck stamp set. I'm coloring that up next.

It's RC Color Challenge Time {Fly}

This one snuck up on me. I'm glad I found some time yesterday to squeeze out this card. Creativity is a funny thing.....some days it just happens. I'm glad it did with this card. I loooove how it turned out AND I really LOVE how many different Reverse Confetti Stamps I was able to use. 

I started with the background and pulled out some polka dots from Celebrate Cake, Spookie Cuties, and Happy Harbor (the little bubble trio....just ink up a single dot). When creating a background, remember to start with your largest stamp first and then fill in with the smaller images. I always take a step back (or hold my paper at arms length) to see where some "holes" need to be filled. You can also try squinting to see where you may need to fill in a dot here or there. 

I used my color spritzer tool to add a few splatters of turquoise. I'm so glad I hoard HOLD onto things. This tool has come back into "style". I believe Tim Holtz just released one to use with is distress markers. 

I cut an orange strip of scallops from the Double edge Scallop die that RC just released. I used the smallest ones and have them peeking out from the edge. I also stamped some Sno Cone stripes from So Stripey,  along the right side for another bit of added interest. 

And the show stopper is my sentiment tag. I cut a Sno Cone large tag from Tag Me Confetti Cuts. I used the Paper Crane stamp set for the sentiment. I stamped those in a darker turquoise ink and then stamped a few open triangles in Orange Fizz ink. I thought the new Arrow Die would be great on this card. It kind of fit the theme.....arrows fly, after all. I tied on some orange bakers twine and added a trio of white sequins.

I told you all I had a LOT of birthdays to prepare for. You'll be seeing a bunch more over the next few months. For some reason, I always wait until the last minute to create these cards. I did this one on the fly Saturday. My little guy needed it for a party on Sunday. 

It's a little easier to create on the fly when you have a great sketch to follow. I was using the adorable puppy from Cupcake Cutie by MFT, so I went with this week's Wed. Stamp Club sketch. 

I wasn't going to color the pup, so I stamped him on a kraft circle die cut from Blueprints 3 Die-namics. After I pieced up the balloon, I did decide to add in a little shading with my Copics. I used my W3 and W7 markers to add a bit of shading to ground the puppy. 

The sentiment included in the stamp set was a bit too girly of a font for a boy birthday card. I went "shopping" in my stash, and I came across Gift Card Greetings II. bingo! It included the perfect sized sentiment to fit my strip. I stamped it in Chocolate Brown ink.

Sweet Sunday Sketch 202 {celebrating 13}

Wow! Seemed fast didn't it? The Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge has gone back to a weekly sketch. I'm trying to stay ahead of the game so these don't sneek up on me.  It's week two and I'm doing pretty good. 
I needed a birthday card for our neighbor. He turned 13, so pulled out a bunch of my Reverse Confetti stamps and had fun mixing and matching the words, numbers and sentiments. 

Here is my card:

Papers are, once again, from the Hey Kid paper pack by Pink Paislee. I cut a rectangle from Kraft cs and did some tone on tone stamping with the stars from Inner Rock Star. I love creating subtle backgrounds this way. 

I then stamped the birthday sentiment from Lots to Say in Steel Blue ink and added the word celebrate in Red Hot ink from Celebrate Cake. 

I was excited to remember that Lighthearted Letters also included numbers!!! I was able to stamp the year 13 to my double layered circles. A few stars and sequins finish off this festive card.
