It's a Charmed Birthday!

Here's my Stamp Something Challenge card for the week. I made an SUO card (gasp, I know!!!! and I have another one for tomorrow!). The challenge this week is to use a charms on your card. The other day I made my own charm by stamping an extra coffee cup and then cutting it out, today I used a filigree brad without the brad! See it dangling off my ribbon? Like the layout? It's from the DCBD, I had just seen Kristin's card when I sat down to create this so I decided to give it a try.
Come stop by Stamp Something, check out the challenge and play along. Be sure it's a new card you are making for the challenge and link directly to your creation. While you are there, you should see what the DT did, they have some cute charms to share. Hugs, Lisa

Six Chicks Project Parade...back to school!!!

Today is August 6 (my mom's birthday, Happy Birthday Mom!!!) and it's time for another great round of Limelight's Project parade. This month we are showing off some fun back to school themed projects. My middle guy, Ryan, is starting Kindergarten. He is soooo excited to be going to school and most of all to be joining his big brother on the bus. I can't wait to see him on the first day. I did up this cute little gift set for him-a back pack tag, new pencils, and a little love note to wish him well. The October Afternoon dp, Cherry Hill, has the cutest little apple paper and I couldn't resist using it here on my projects. I have to say I CASED this tag from the adorable little luggage tags my dear friend, Becky, made up for a few of us last year for SU Convention. I plan to attach this to Ryan's back pack and will include his bus number on the backside. The letter R is a chipboard letter by Basic Grey. Brads are from the bittersweet collection. I also used the same fun papers and made this little pencil pouch. I made this with the Top Note die and attached the ends together with another Bittersweet brad. I also added some of this yummy brown gingham ribbon (LOVE this stuff, I just used up my stash and can't wait for more to get here!!!) and a OffBeat Button. To complete the ensamble, I also made a ver easy card to remind my little guy to just have fun!!! The sentiment was created by inking up words from the Unity set, Mix Up of Cutness. A little paper piercing and this little love note was complete. Hope I inspired you to create a little something for your little munchinkins or a teacher as the new school year begins!
Check out the rest of the DT and see what fun stuff they have to show us: Mandy, Amy, Lorie, Lee, JenMarie, Ryann, and our August guest designer, Tiffany Johnson.

A sketch with MFT!!!

Tonight is a new release night for MFT and I'm excited to see the sets in full. Some of the sneak peeks are pretty enticing. It's just looking for me, though.....no new stamps for a while. But I got some of my sets inky with a sketch from the MFT forum on SCS. Each Thursday a couple new challenges are posted and if you play along you have a chance to win some MFT cash and you could possibly be asked to join the customer blog hop later in the month. I inked up the Hot Stuff stamp set and used up some of the retired SU Parisian dsp and Baja ribbon.
I even cut out an extra coffee cup and made a little ribbon charm. Sweet, huh?! I pieced the little ladies dress and colored the rest with copics. We're off to Kings Island for some roller coaster fun today. My nieces are tooo excited!!! Come back tomorrow for a double post with Limelight goodies!!!! Hugs, Lisa

At the Lake and OMG! it's AUGUST!

This week we have been hanging out at the lake, but not our lake. My parents have a lake house up in MI, up near Mt. Pleasant. My mom has just been giddy about us coming. It has been three years since we have made it up there. The last time we were there, the boys jumped out of the truck with their "I'm a Big Brother" t-shirts. It took my mom almost 20 minutes to realize why Ryan was wearing one, hehehe. Yep, he was helping announce that we were pregnant with our Nicholas!!!! As long as the weather is nice (it's been a little cool this summer) we are having a blast.
I always like to schedule my posts while I'm away. I should take a blogging break, but I am just so used to posting and I hate to leave you all hanging. I've been keeping you busy with Unity Sneak Peaks all week so for the weekend I have two cards I teased you with at the beginning of the July. I made these two while I was playing around with the very fun Unity kit, Everyday Adorable!!! They are pretty simple, but you know that's what I do! I embossed the key with silver embossing powder and colored it in with a marker. I used it as a little charm for my bow.
I must have been in an embossing mood because I pulled out my heat tool for this one, too! I embossed those flowers in white over the Raspberry tart dsp. That sentiment is just so pretty, "Friendship isn't a big thing, It's a million little things." Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Lisa
