HHH-post #2 (scroll down to see the Stamp Something Challenge)

What's HHH you ask? Any Guesses? Yeah, yeah, you know it if you've been here before on a Friday. It's Hip Hop Hangover day and it was created for all of us who can't get enough Unity! Thursday's, the Unity DT holds their blog hop and Friday's the dedicated Unity addicts, um, I mean customers get a chance to post their Unity creations. Any one can join the blog hop, you just need to link your blog to the thread in the Unity Hip Hop Forum (you can go there for the list of participants or to Angela's blog). I always try to play along in the Hip Hop Challenges and this is where I like to share them. Here are the two I did yesterday. This was a challenge to use a light blue on your card. Light blue just says BABY to me, so I made a baby boy card with these cute images from the November KOTM (kit of the month).

You can't really tell in this photo, but I used acetate on this card, that row of flowers in stamped in white stazon along the bottom of the acetate. This card just makes me happy! I even was inspired to do up the inside of the card. The inside sentiment comes from PTI, Year Round Puns. The next challenge was to use Unity stamps (of course) and create a matching envelope. I try to always stamp a coordinating envelope when I mail out a card, but I almost never share them here. It is usually a last minute detail I add just before I walk the card down to the mail box. Now I've got one ready to go. I'm trying hard to resist the beautiful stamp that was released yesterday. Did you see it? Did you see what the DT did with it? OMG, gorgeous stuff I tell ya! Anyway, I was inspired by the DT and used something I had that was similar and came up with this card. The colors are from PTI-Ripe Avocado, Melon Berry, and Springs Moss! Friday full of Fun!

I will have multiple posts today instead of just one long one. Plus it is easier to keep track of it all that way (easier for me anyway, hehehehe!). I stamped this card weeks ago (thanks Erin and Denise for giving us our schedule in advance) since I knew Ryan's recovery would be my focus this week. This week at Stamp Something we have a winter challenge. Create something cold, wintry and windy! It is sponsored by Whimsy stamps. My image and sentiment are a few I received by Firecracker Designs by Pamela. Nothing better than a cup of cocoa to warm you up on those cold windy wintry days!

With March right around the corner, I sure hope the cold, blistery days are behind us. I know there will be a few sporadic days to come, I do live in the midwest you know, but I'll be watching the mercury rise on the thermometer over the next few months. A Crafty Tagline

I was going to wait till tomorrow to post this, but then it would make for 3 posts in one day. SO....I'm doing it today. There She Goes stamps is having their monthly release and I did this one for a challenge-Bling it Out! I just love this set (as I have said before) and all the little funnies included in it.
The dp is Off Beat by Basic Grey, so I pulled out some PTI melon berry and lemon tart to go along with it. Jazzed it up with the buttons, and bling and even added some Angel Wings Shimmerz to the broom. See you later! Lisa

I stole a few moments to stamp...

...my mental heath needed it. I took a few moments throughout the day yesterday to put together a few cards. Tim was home, Ryan's med's kicked in so he was comfortable, and Nicholas was busy playing trains. I had a few sketches to work with and that always seems to move things along for me. I first have to share the sweetness of big brother Joshua. While we were at the surgery center on Tuesday, Joshua made this card in school for Ryan. I just love that he was thinking about him while he was at school. I then played along with the Unity Addicts challenge and whipped up this quickie for my little guy. I used some of the fun October Afternoon dp and the Unity kit, Delectable Delights (get them both at Limelight Papercrafts). We sure are going through the popsicles around here.

The sentiment I created is from PTI, their Simple Alphabet. If you are in the market for a mini alphabet, this is a must have. The price is just right and you get so many extra letters to spell all the words you need. Next is a sketch from Card Patterns. I have been watching this blog get started (thanks to one of my fellow GSG's, Marie) and decided to play along this week. The sketch was fun to work with (plus there's a prize involved and a Guest Designer spot up for grabs). I was so happy with how this turned out, gotta love that Urban Oasis paper!

It is another SUO project. This is a rather large card for me, as it measures 5 inches square. Thanks for stopping by and checking in. More VSN and a SALE!

I told you yesterday that I completed four of the VSN challenges. Here are the other two I did. I had great intentions on finishing up a few more yesterday and then I panicked about my swaps and the fact that my DS is having his tonsils out tomorrow and I know my stamping time will be limited this week while I nurse him back to health. YIKES! I got busy working on those swaps and will finish them up today. Anyway, here are the last two. This first one was called My Obsession. You had to make a card about something you are obsessed about. Easy for me, it is all about stamping and everything that goes along with it. Right now I'm obsessed with sewing on my cards, buttons, ribbon, and owls (or just birds in general). I combined them all here.
Oh, yeah, wanted to give credit to Vera for the technique on this card. I sorta cased this card of hers cause I loved it. The next challenge was to pull out and use a long lost stamp. You know, one of those sets you just had to have but then only ended up using a few times. The SU set, Take Shape was one of those sets for me. It was in one of the first mini's after I became a demo and I thought it was so versatile. I think I only made a few samples for workshops then I moved on.

VSN-did you play along?

Yesterday was the Feb. VSN (virtual stamp night) over at SCS. It was my first VSN participation ( I did do the mini-crush event last month, so that may be my first official one) and it was fun. I only wish I had a chance to do all of the challenges. The hosts this month did a fabulous job organizing the event! Kudos to you girls! I almost forgot all about it when Kristin emailed me and asked if I wanted to stamp along with her. We got a chance to chat a little and it sure helped make the time pass on another cold Saturday afternoon without Tim home. Here are two of the cards I did using a new PTI set, Damask Designs. I really wanted this set because it is so beautiful, but also because one of my former GSG members, Dawn McVey designed it!!! I'm so excited for her and all that has happened to her in this past year. She's a stamping super star!

I tried a new technique with this card, melted crayon. I even put my iron to good use (I rarely iron anything, LOL!) It was fun to try, but don't see myself doing this too often.

This is a clear acetate card and I REALLY like how it came together. I used some more new PTI goodness on this, along with the same set. The new color is Melon Berry (I was surprise how, almost dead on this color is to last year's SU IN Color, Groovy Guava. In case you were wondering). I paired it up with PTI's Berry Sorbet and a pop of Raspberry Fizz. I did use their Vintage Cream ink on the acetate and it is not drying, so I will need to re-do this card with some stazon. It looks pretty for the picture, but it is all smeared up now since my DS got a hold of it. Enjoy your Sunday! It is a sad one around here as we say good-bye to a friend and neighbor today. He lost his courageous battle to cancer last Monday. He was young, and leaves behind a beautiful wife and two kids. My heart and prayers go out to the Ballard family!

Stamp Something 3-D !

Stamp Something is going 3-D this week! Alex, one of our oh-so-talented DT members, is hosting this week's challenge and I am so excited to see what everyone comes up with. I struggled with this challenge all week. I just couldn't decide what kind of 3-D item to do. So, I admit, I waited till the last minute and I'm glad I did. Sometimes creativity comes to me when I am feeling the pressure. SCS must have known I was looking for an idea and Beate posted this tutorial on Wednesday. Many of you have probably done a pop-up card before, but this was new to me (at least this type of pop-up) and it was perfect for this 3-D challenge! I am also so excited to show you this very cool paper. It is the Rockability Specialty paper pack by SU. Here on the outside of the card can you see that shine on the stripes? That is the paper! I did nothing to it. One side of each of the sheets has a cool embossed pattern (the cherries are embossed on the pattern here on the inside of the card) and I love it!!! Since I was going with the Cherry theme, I decided to add some red brads to my tree to turn this into a cherry tree. I got the idea from Marie. The WOW factor of this card is the inside, open it up and POP Goes the Weasel! Can you tell I am in toddler mode? LOL! The greeting on the inside pops up when you open the card.

It's a Limelight Sketch Day!

Wishing for Spring?? It may be snowy and icy but we can still 'think' Spring! Bring on the flowers! Use the provided sketch and use FLOWERS! They can be Primas, stamped flowers, flowered DP, etc...anything floral! Yesterday was 55 degrees here in the Southwest corner of Ohio and today we have snow flurries and it is cooooollllllddddd! That's spring for ya in the midwest (okay it is not officially spring yet, but I'm hopeful it is just around the corner!) Thankfully with our stamps we can create any mood. Lee provided us with a great sketch.

Come play along with us and think Spring with flowers. Here's what I came up with. I had a hard time choosing which October Afternoon paper to use. I decided on this bright, retro flower print called Garden Path. I used the lamp with the flowery lamp shade from the very cool set, Shine On by Unity. Look at the pretty Primas, you can find those here. Speaking of Primas, you have a chance to win some if you play. Here's what you need to do:

Told you there were forests growing...

hehehehe! Yesterday my back ordered set, Thoughts & Prayers arrived and I mounted it right away so I could ink it up during nap time. Mr. Brown was running a bit early yesterday, he must have known I was getting ready to stamp :) Isn't this tree GORGEOUS!!! I did not own a nice Sympathy set so this was a no brainer for me to add to my collection. But I also have plans to use this and the beautiful branch included in the set well beyond sympathy and thinking of you cards.

The sketch for this card comes from Mercy's weekly sketch challenge. Check out this weeks challenge HERE. I flipped it and used the ribbon for that little extra layer in the sketch. This next card was for this week's color challenge on SCS- More Mustard, Rose Red, and Kiwi Kiss or Old Olive. I love kiwi, but went with olive on this one because I wanted to ink up the image with my markers.

I also used the new texturz plates on the rose red layer. If you aren't having success with this product, try adding two whisper white cardstock shims (I just cut two pieces down to the same size as my silicone pad) to your sandwich. It made all the difference to me.

Growing a Forest!

By the time I am done playing with this set I think I will have lots of lovely trees all over my craft room. LOL! This set is just so fun. I used Chocolate Chip textured cs and stamped those trees in Versamark. I used the fun retro circle pattern from the Good Morning Sunshine paper pack and punches some of those out and popped them up. Tied it all off with stitched chocolate ribbon (my favorite way to use this ribbon on a card. I feel it is a bit bulky to tie on a card) and a Pacific point corduroy button for a pop of color!

New Week and I'm back!

I feel like it has been a long time since I posted. I know, to you out there in blog land, I did have stuff to share on Friday and even Saturday, but those were scheduled posts! It's Friday The 13th!!

Are you superstitious? I'm not, so Friday the 13th doesn't mean much to me when it falls on a Friday, although today is a special day. It is my dad's birthday. This is the last of our Birthday's for a while (yesterday was my Ryan's 5th birthday!!!). The last month has been has been fun, but I am tired of Birthdays! We have one more party to get through (Ryan's tomorrow morning at Chuck E. Cheese. He is practically jumping out of his skin, he is so excited) and then there is nothing until summer time. Here in blog land this Friday means it's a Stamp Something day and a Unity Hip Hop Hangover day(I actually got to hip hop a little yesterday and hang out in the Unity forum AND I won a prize). Guess who this week's challenge hostess is? Give up? It's ME! I have a fabulous bunch of loot to give away to one lucky winner. I am paying it forward and sharing some of the winnings I received in my Paper Craft prize box (from their World Card Making Day contest). The box was HUGE and I could never use everything they sent me. Wanna see the prize you can win? We have a chocolate theme this week. Create something, anything to do with chocolate. It can be a box or package to hold some chocolate, you can use a chocolate stamped image, or you can just use the color of chocolate.

Here's my challenge card. I was all about my favorite color, chocolate chip. I used retired, Au Chocolate paper (SU), Chocolate grosgrain, chocolate chip ink, and then I couldn't resist one of my favorite Unity images, the Choloate Kiss (from the Dec. KOTM). The next card is just an extra for those of you following the Hip Hop Hangover blog hop. It is a Unity card I did yesterday for the Hip Hop Challenge-Unity takes Flight. We had to use an image of something that flies. I love these little owls (from the October KOTM). The dp is from the Weather Vane series of dp by Ocotober Afternoon. I am sooooo happy Mandy got some OA in the Limelight store. Speaking of Limelight and Unity you might want to check out their sale this week. I see handles on sale (and a few other things)! SUO!

It's been hard to not use my non-SU products, but I put them all away so I can focus on my SUO stuff. I did scrapbook two pages yesterday with some October Afternoon dp! I Love the new Billboard alphabet die that SU added to their Big Shot collection. Angie Tieman has been using those letters on cards and they look great. I'll have to give that a try. Her card today is just gorgeous! Well, I'm not sharing my scrapbook pages today, but I do have a few more cards. This first one I whipped up in about 8 minutes last night. Easy to do with a great sketch (sketch challenge on SCS) and beautiful dsp. This is the Parisian Breeze specialty paper.

And here is one more Good Friend card. The HI is a rub-on from the A Perfect Day pack. I love the bright cheerfulness of this card. The ribbon is actually Saffron grosgrain (you can get some FREE with a $50 order!)

Now look at this! Tim was able to take a picture of this beautiful rainbow that was right out our back door. We had weird weather yesterday and right before dinner the rainbow appeared. He wasn't able to get the whole thing in the picture, but you could actually see the FULL arc of the rainbow. I have never seen that before. This just made me happy and the boys and I watched it for the full 4 minutes it was visable. This is the picture from the front of our house.

Good Friend, Trendy Trees and Polka Dots

Today is the day I share with you some of what I've been up to down in my craft room. I ordered three stamp sets (one is still on backorder) and I've been having fun playing with the two I do have. Good Friend and Trendy Trees were the first sets that jumped out at me. I had to have them. You saw the cute, giant bird on yesterday's card. Along with that bird, there are some really cool retro flowers. To be honest, it was the flowers that really called my name. So here is the first card I made with this set. Also new on this card are the wonderful corduroy buttons and the yummy Jumbo brads. I got both sizes and this one is the 5/16. The scallop strip is some dsp from the Good Morning Sunshine pack. I think this has to be my all time favorite pattern of SU dsp.

Here is the first card I did with my Trendy Trees set. I wanted to use this polka dot paper from the Urban Oasis dsp, so that is where my colors came from. I do love this set, but was a little disappointed when I realized I HAD to use my SAMJ (stamp-a-majig) with it. Normally I can wing it without using this tool, but nope, not with this set. Now that I've done it a few times, I've got it down and the extra step with the SAMJ isn't bothering me. The end result is just too cute to get worked up over the SAMJ, LOL! That GIANT brad is one of the new ones, it is a 5/8 size. So now you can see the difference in size between the two. And just because I was into the polka dots, I have this card to share too. This paper is from the Rockability Specialty dsp pack (honestly, I ordered this paper for this patter, but am in love with all the other patterns now that I've seen them IRL)

Guilted into Card Making

Well, not really, but I have to give Kristin a hard time right back. She uploaded a challenge to our GSG blog (we've been dormant for months now, and Kristin challenged us to get stamping again) last week and not many played along. She posted this challenge yesterday and told us we all better get busy! I have some new products (I'll share more of what I've been doing tomorrow) so this was easy, except for the monochromatic part. I love cards done in all one color, but not when I have bright, colorful new dsp to play with. I went with the blue bird dsp from Good Morning Sunshine and paired it with the adorable bird from Good Friend.

So the other part of the challenge was to use two sets, one current and one retired. I cheated on this part and couldn't bring myself to use a retired set. I don't know why, I have plenty of them. The sentiment I did with Say it With Scallops. I punched it out with a 1 inch circle punch and tucked it behind my bow! Can you see it? The textured, embossed panel on the bashful blue layer? I was just about to give these a big Thumbs Down, but once I added three pieces of cs to my big shot sandwich I 'm starting to get the results I like. So there you have it, a pretty blue bird card. I love the stickles she added. Denise Lynn gave me this one along with this cute Whimsy Stamp.and if you follow Kristin Moore's blog then you saw this one last week. I'm now the proud owner of it!!! She also sent me this lovely book mark engraved with the quote from Proverbs 17:17. "A Friend Loves At All Times."and my friend Mandy Cheshire from over at Limelight sent me this fun card! A little My Favorite Things

Yes, I'm still playing along with some other challenges in a few different forums on SCS. This past week I was working on some things for the MFT Ambassador and Guest Designer spots. I love how this first card came together, especially the layout. It was a color challenge of Pink, brown, white, black, and grey. You could pick any combo of those colors. I pulled out some of the new Urban Oasis dsp from SU and went to work. I love black and khaki together, so I used kraft and black and threw in a little pink. The stamp set is by Stephanie Fizer's An Owl for all Seasons.

I also created these two projects. Well one is a card, and the other is another one of those cute box in a bags. The Flopsy card was for a masking challenge and the box/bag had to have a heart theme. Blame it on PaperTrey Ink

I had to make another card today. This one was a sketch challenge from PTI and the prize is a BOAT LOAD of RIBBON! I couldn't pass up the opportunity to win my FAVE embellishement. Funny thing is, I didn't use any ribbon on this card. The stamp set is Out on a Limb and the paper is October Afternoon (got it at Limelight!) along with Summer Sunrise and Ocean Tides.

One last one for the weekend!

After today, I'm not sure I should post all weekend long. That could always change though. I worked on one more card today and this one was for the Over the Rainbow PTI challenge. This year (and month) Nichole is making us work for a chance at some prizes. LOL! That's okay by me because it has forced me to pull out some of my PTI sets that have gone neglected these last few months and the prizes are HUGE!!! The colors she challenged us to use were-Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy, Ocean Tides, and Ripe Avocado. I have all these colors but Pure Poppy but my Real Red worked out fine for me. So here is my card.I used Little Lady and Polka Dot basics. I'm off to link it for a chance to win a fabulous prize-a year full of paper from PTI! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hehehehe! See, I told you I was a busy little stamping beaver this week. I just had to wait until Friday to post them all. Stamp Something

Today is a busy day with posts! Thankfully I worked ahead on my projects and completed everything I'm sharing with you today on Wednesday. The snow day we had was just what I needed. Yes, I said snow day. Tuesday afternoon into the evening we got dumped on with another 8 inches of snow! This week at Stamp Something we are also showing our love with a Valentine's card. You can get more Valentiney (see another craft-made-up-word!LOL!) that pinks and reds. Since I was busy working on other projects this week, I sadly haven't had much time to use my NEW SU stuff.Yes, my catty order came on Wednesday. BUT I did manage to put something new on this card. Actually lots of new somethings ended up on this card. The dsp is from the Pink Flamingo paper pack (this stuff is sooooo pretty!), the button is from the Button Latte collection, and the two stamps are from SAB sets (Polka dot punches, and Yummy!). Oh, yeah, the hearts are punched out with the new Full Heart punch (I love the size of it!!!). So there you have it! Limelight Six Chicks Project Parade

Today is the sixth of Feb. and us chicks have been busy preparing our monthly project for you. This month we decided to share a little love with you and show you some Valentine gift ideas for a friend, with a coordinating card. I knew right away which stamp I want to work with, Love & Meaning. It's been on my desk since I received it last week and I can't stop using it. The sentiment from this stamp is just perfect and it really speaks to me. You know from my post yesterday that I have been trying hard to use what I have. I have quite a few of these clear polka dot frames I bought over a year ago that I have never used. I also have a friend, my BFF from college, who is finally getting married. She rekindled her college romance after 10 years and they will be married over Labor Day weekend next September. I wanted to send her a little something to show how happy I am for her. I created this pretty little magnet for her fridge by simply adding a magnetic strip to the back of the polka dot frame. I used the October Afternoon dp and the Love & Meaning stamps set to put it all together. It still needed a little something so I added a prima, stamped the word Love from the sentiment and punched it out with a 1 inch circle punch to create the center of the flower and topped it off with a Clear Droplet. Here is the card that coordinates with the magnetic frame. I pulled out my Scallop circle Bigz die to create the base for this card and cut another circle to fit inside the scallop with my colluzzle. I stamped the flower images three times-once on my white circle card base, and two more times on pattern paper, my new favorite, October Afternoon. This pattern is called Dirt Roads from the Detours line. I then pieced together different patterns for the hearts and circles. Ther rest was colored with my copics. I highlighted a few of the words. I finished the card off with some crystal effects to give it some dimension. Almost all of the products used you can find at Limelight papercrafts.
