Snow and a Card

Not so crafty with my title today, but I do have a cute, crafty card to share. I know all you die hard stampers will appreciate this one. I tell you the set, Craft Taglines from There She Goes stamps company is so fun. I did this card for the monthly challenge over at TSG. We had to add dimension to our card. This was an easy on for me since I almost never make a card without my trusty Stampin' Dimensionals. I usually have three packs on hand and if I get down to one, I start to panic a bit. Good thing they are fairly inexpensive! I popped up the top layer of the card, the sentiment, and all three silver embossed scissors. Here's another shot of the dimension. Since I have been talking about all our snow and ice this week I thought I'd share a few pictures with you all that I took yesterday morning. I know to some of you, this is probably nothing, but for us in the southwest corner of Ohio, this is a lot at one time!. Enjoy! I'm finishing up some prep work for my class tomorrow afternoon. I've got a great group joining me for an afternoon of stamping birthday cards. I'll share those projects with you tomorrow!
This is the view out my front door. There are houses on either side of this shot, I just cropped them out.
Here is a shot out my back door and here is one more of the ice on a bush in our back landscaping. Can you tell I'm not much of a photographer? I probably could have gotten some better shots but I didn't have shoes on and took these while leaning out the doors. LOL!

Stamp Something Summer

We got dumped on this week. Close to 12 inches of snow, lots of ice, and COLD winds. brrrrr! I was quite happy to stamp a little sunshine for this weeks challenge over at Stamp Something. Get out your warm sunny stamps and papers and make something that reminds you of summer. I chose the Washington Apple dsp from SU! (so glad it did not retire) and the cute little truck filled with bright sunny flowers from Loads of Love. Make sure you link your creations for a chance to win a prize. This week our sponsor is Pink Gem! ETA: I almost forgot to tell you that the sketch (isn't it fun!) is from Mercy's Tuesday sketch challenge. She comes up with some great ones, check out her blog, too!
See you later! Hugs, Lisa

A few More Days left for the Love You Much Bundle!

If you haven't taken advantage of the Love you Much Bundle, you need to! The special offer (save 20% off the retail value) ends Saturday, Jan. 31. For $41.48 you get the stamp set, the cool Heart to Heart punch, and the Candy Land dsp! All three products are in the new catty, but this is the only way you can take advantage of the special pricing. I used the stamp set, Love You Much, on this card. Aren't those birdies the cutest? Yes, I still have a thing for birds, heheheh! Wait till my new catty order comes! I think this set works great for everyday friendship and love cards, not just Valentine's Day.

The color combo was from this weeks challenge on SCS-Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, and Garden Green. Give it a try and surprise yourself. Oh, and if you want a great sketch to work with, try this one from the Our Creative Corner blog. My kids have another snow day, it's the third one in a row. I'm hoping we get to go out sledding again. Happy Thursday! Hugs, Lisa

Monster Cupcakes!

Oh, yeah! Look what Limelight papercrafts got in their store. October Afternoon and the Ginormous Sweet Cupcakes by Unity!!!! I just had to put the two together and came up with this super sweet card. You can also find the brads and the ribbon there too. If you have been oogling this cupcake kit from Unity, I would say don't wait, get it now, and order it from Limelight (it is the best deal out there). I did some shopping around the other day and see that Unity has made some changes. They are growing and bringing in new product after CHA. YEAH! This is all awesome, BUT some of their original kits have been "reorganized" and don't include the woodmount images with them. Don't panic, you can still get those wonderful images, but they are selling ALL woodmount stamps individually. Limelight has a lot of those said kits, in their original configuration in their store. Ginormous Sweet Cupcakes is one of those sets! Plus, why not get what you want from Limelight, looks like Mandy is running another amazing sale.

The best part is you get to choose the sale, enter "FIFTEEN" as your promotional code at the end of your order to receive 15% off your entire order!!!! Go Shopping!

Love You Bear!

Just when I thought this bear could not get any cuter. I've seen this big guy hold lots of things in those big wide arms since he made his debut back in the Fall/Winter 2008 catty (Under the Stars stamp set). I decided he needed to hold an arm full of hearts for you to love. The sketch is by Amber from the Viva La Verve challenge on SCS. All products are SU. I just adore my new heart punch and the new Candy Lane dsp. I watercolored the bear with waterwonder crayons, and added the sentiment from Family Phrases. I also added one little extra to this card. Can you tell what it is? Look closely at the Pink Pirouette layer, it is embossed with a flower pattern. Yep, that's new-the new Textured plates that are in the SU catty. Check them out, I'm so glad SU now carries a product that adds texture and dry embossing to cs. Another great reason to get a Big Shot if you don't already have a die cut machine! Thanks for stopping by today! Hugs, Lisa

A Box for Some Cards

SCS is such an amazing resource for anything and everything stamping related. I found this great little A-2 box tutorial and have made several of them. They are so easy to make. The other weekend, when I played along with the Crush Mini VSN on SCS, one of the challenges was to create a box of some sort to hold your cards. I did this one and wanted to show you. I am finding myself making more and more 3-d items and really like making them, especially when they come together quickly!

Stamps used are Giggle Grove and two images from Unity Jan. Kit of the Month. The letters are from one of my fave SU alphabets, Jumbo Outline alpha. I also used some retired SU ribbon and paper (my beloved, Wasabi was calling my name!). Short and Sweet today! Have a good one!

No stamping, but I have some cards to share

This has been a no-stamping week. Too much going on. I did sneak in a few minutes yesterday to work on some Sale-a-bration samples. I am really liking the new dsp, cute, cute colors and patterns. Oh, and the twill ribbon in celery is soooo yummy! I do have the rest of the cards I did last week for the VSN Mini Crush on SCS to share with you. So enjoy and have a great weekend.

Hey, what do you know? Here is a scrappling I did with some of the new SAB products. This was fun to make. What's a scrappling you ask? Well, it is a card made from the scrap of cs you have left when making smaller than standard cards. I do a lot of square, 4 1/4 inch, cards and I am left with a strip of cs that is always put into my scrapbox. It is a long narrow piece and now you can fold that in half and make cute little tall skinny cards with it. This scrappling wasn't quite as tall as most turn out to be, but I did use all scraps to create it.

This card was for the Something Old, New, Blue, and Barrowed challenge. My stamps were new, they are the Unity Jan. KOTM (Love, ect.), the cs is obviously blue, barrowed was a fun embellishment packet I got from the SU Convention SCS dinner (you can't really barrow something for a card, so you were to use something you received from someone else), and the old was some Crystal effects (this is the original bottle I purchased probably 6 years ago). Up until recently, I hardly ever used it. Now I love the stuff and can't stop using it. Okay, I'm outta here. Need to go decorate a cake and get ready for eight 7 yr. olds to arrive at 9:30am!

Recipe Organization

I think I have told you before, that organization isn't one of my strong points. I do have a place for everything, but often times items don't get put back were they belong and piles start adding up. I always know where things are, though. My craft room is usually a mess, I did clean it yesterday (my parents arrived and need a place to sleep) so I will have some photos of my craft space next week if you are interested. I am always interested to other people's space. It's fun to see where my online stamping peeps do their creating! So where is all this leading to, RECIPES. Today is Stamp Something day and our challenge has to do with recipes! Create something to do with recipes!
I love to cook and collect recipe after recipe to try someday. The food network is my favorite channel and foodtv.com is a great site for finding all the yummy dishes the celebrity chefs make. I have a stack of recipes printed out and I store them in a a file folder in my cupboard. It is not very organized nor is it very pretty to look at.
For my recipe challenge, I decided to do up a nice pretty folder to keep in my cupboard. I picked my designer paper (Summer picnic from SU, now retired) and traced and cut out the shape of the folder. I wanted a little stamping on it, so I stamped the word recipe (yes, I meant to write the word, recipes, with an S, but in my haste of getting this challenge done I did not space out my letters and ran out of room. I didn't have time to re-do it. See, I'm not a perfect stamper either! lol!). I used black craft ink and then embossed the letters with black embossing powder. I jazzed it up a bit further with some pumpkin striped ribbon. I created a little matching clip to hold all the papers together too. I think it turned out cute! Can't wait to see what the other DT members come up with. Make sure you join in the fun this week. Our Sponsor is Jessica Lynn Originals, and there is a fun prize up for grabs. Remember to link your creations to the Stamp Something blog. Hugs, Lisa

Limelight Sketch Challenge

It's Thursday and it's our week at Limelight to share our sketch challenge cards and give you a chance to play along for a prize.
Sometimes as stampers and scrapbookers we can get stuck in a bit of a routine of doing the same thing over and over. Well, this sketch and product challenge aims to remedy that problem! That's because we're challenging you to think of new ways to use what you have! We want to see you use two or more DIFFERENT stamps on your card or scrapbook layout.
Whether you create a scene with your stamps or just combine a background stamp and an image stamp, we want you to do something new and creative! Limelight Papercrafts has tons of fantastic stamps to choose from! If you don't have any Limelight products, that's ok! Just use what you do have! We can't wait to see what you create!
Here's what you need to do:
Sketch and Product Challenge with a focus on using two or more DIFFERENT stamps.
Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC013.
Participants should post a comment and a link to their card on Mandy's blog. All entries must be submitted by Sunday, January 25th , at midnight to win a Stampendous single of their choice!
And here is my sample for you. I feel a little silly sharing this incomplete page with you, but thanks to that fun stamp, "place photo here", I think it looks quite nice (it's from the Unity kit, Our Life, Our Stories). I know exactly which picture I am going to put on this page. I was cleaning up my photos the other day on the computer and saw the cutest picture of Ryan and Nicholas eating popsicles on the back patio last summer. As soon as I saw the picture, I said to myself, "oooo, I want to use the Delectable Delights set on a page for this picture along with that cute paper by Pink Paisley". When I sat down to work with this sketch this week, it all just came together.

I actually used four different stamps on this page. I stamped and colored (with copics) the yummy popsicle three times and pieced some of that fun polka dot paper onto the image. I used the Sweet Stuff sentiment as a border along the bottom of my page. That is a fun easy way to use stamps on a scrapbook page. If you are nervous to stamp on a page, start there. The other stamping on the page is the work YUM in the title. The word summer was cut from a CuttleKids alphabet die and then I stamped YUM with an SU set, Jumbo Outline alpha. After I was done, I still felt the page need something else, so I added this strip of orange striped ribbon. Now I'm motivated to get some pictures developed and onto some pages! Be sure to see what the other DT members did with this sketch. You won't be let down, I promise you. Also, play along, it is a great week to play! Hugs, Lisa

More New Catty Swaps!

A little more SU eye candy! New is good, right?! Oh, yeah, it is to me. I'm working on some samples for my SAB swaps so you'll be seeing those shortly, too. Here is another card, similar to the one I did for the NMBS group, same layout, just a different use of paper and colors.

I think the pink pirouette softens the look a bit. I colored the stems with my blender pen and re-inkers and added a bit of sparkle to the centers with Dazzling Diamonds. Needless to say, my craft room now is sprinkled with glitter. I hope it doesn't get all over my parents stuff this weekend. Heheheh. It will be funny to see my dad glitterfied! Yes, that means I have to clean the ol' stamp room today and finish some last minute projects since I won't have full use of my room until Sunday. Love that I have my own stamping space but it puts a kink in my creative time when we have guests. In all fairness, I'll take a visit from my parents over stamping anyday! They come tomorrow and the boys can't wait!!! Have a great day, the week is going even faster since we had the Holiday on Monday. Hugs, Lisa

VSN, a first for me! and New SU catty goes LIVE!

YES!!! At noon today (MT) you can now order from the 2009 Spring/Summer Stampin' Up! catty!!!

We were frozen in this weekend. It was cooooold! Tim worked and the boys were playing with the neighbors, so I got some stamping time. SCS held their VSN Mini Crush . There were 12 challenges posted and they were a lot of fun. I did not do all 12 but I did complete 7 of them. The girls that hosted (some of my FAVE stampin' peeps!) it did a fabulous job. I loved the little video intro on quite a few of the challenges. It was so fun to see and hear IRL some of the friends we chat with online. I won't share all my projects today, but here are a few to start with.

I think this was my fave. It was a Save the Date challenge, you had to include those words on your card somewhere. I did this for a date night DH and I will have this Friday (my parents are coming into town!!).
This next one was for a new technique, Burned Batik. While I'm still not sure about this card, it was still fun to try something new. Check out that texture on the choc. chip cs...it is from one of the new textured plates that SU is now carrying!
okay, and one more. Since the theme was all about LOVE, this challenge card was to use something soft and tender on your card. I did this one up with a row of felt flowers. The images are from Unity!

That's all for today. The kiddos are off of school and DH is home. Hopefully we'll get out and do something fun. Nothing is planned yet, but dinner out would be nice! Have a good day!

Viva La Verve!

Most of you know who Julee Tillman is and have probably seen lots of her sketches (mojo Monday ring a bell?). She is fabulous and famous and owns a wonderful stamp company called Verve Stamps. I love the stamps, but for some reason only have purchased 1 set, Anniversary birds. I told you the other day I've been hangin' out in some of the other stamp company forums (very dangerous, but very fun! and inspiring!). So the last three Friday's I have been working Amber's awesome sketches for the Viva La Verve Challenges. Check them out here. I haven't shared these cards with you yet so I thought today should be the day. Plus, I am super excited about the card I made yesterday. I'll show that one first. I went all out on this one-lots of layers, added ribbon, cyrstal effects, a fun Bittersweet brad, distressed stickles , scallops, and one of my favorite color combos (apricot, regal rose, pumpkin pie!).
This paper was a must have once I saw in the Limelight Papercraft store. I knew the butterflies would look great with some of the Unity butterfly images I have (Unity knows butterflies). The sentiment is from PTI, Butterfly Kisses. Check out all the layers.
So that first card is for week 3 of the Viva La Verve challenges. Here are my cards for week 1 and week 2.

I got use some of my retired yummy pomegranate satin ribbon with the Raspberry tart dsp on this one. The bird is from the Verve set, Anniversary birds. We had to use hardware on this challenge, so I added the row of Bittersweet brads. This was the week two challenge card. I created this funky bird with some new dsp I got in my CARDS prize pack. I think it is Scenic Route. This challenge card had to include some bling! I blinged it up with Shimmerz and rhinestone brads. Thanks for stopping by. Hope your weekend is fun!

Two weeks in a row and no hip hoppin' for me. Kind of makes me sad, but life has been busy. I did steal some computer time and checked out the DT blogs. WOW! as always! and the new sets that were released are sooooo adorable. I just {heart} them so much! I had very little stamping time this whole week, so I made sure to get in a little stamping fix yesterday, too. I played along with one of the hip hop challenges Jeanne posted. I did this one for the I {heart} Unity challenge-use a heart image on your card. The stamps I used are from the December KOTM!

The paper is the Sugared line by Basic Grey and the ribbon is SU (new saffron grosgrain that you can earn for FREE during SAB starting Feb.1). The cs is pink pirouette and saffron and a touch of mellow moss in there. I colored the image with my copics. Be sure to stop by Angela's blog to see the Hip Hop Hangover participants this week.

HIP HOP and HUGS!

Birrrrrthdays!

I hope everyone is staying warm. It sure is cold here, although I think we are a bit warmer than most. That is, if you can say 8 degrees is warm! I am thankful for the sunshine today. It has been so dark and dreary with no sun the past week or two. Have you noticed how dark my photos have been? Today is Friday, so I will have two posts. This one is for Stamp Something! This week our challenge is a Birthday theme. This week you do get to stamp! You are to stamp and create something related to Birthdays. I did a some scrapping this week, so I have a page from Nicholas's 1st Birthday party. I had a ton of pictures so I made a two page layout. All the party supplies used at his party said, "The Big One". I played off that and used it for my title. The layout came from this sketch by Amy in the Unity Friends Forum.
I used some of my favorite retired SU papers, Cuties Pie along with Pomegranate cs and ribbon. The cupcake stamps are Unity. The huge circle was created by tracing the back of one of my dinner plates, it was the perfect size for this 12x12 page. For the right side of my layout, I finally got to use a layout I've seen many times. It is a great way to present a lot of photos and it was perfect to show some of the fun Nicholas had opening his gifts.

I cut all the squares to 2 1/2 inches, was able to use 6 pictures and three different patterns of dsp that I used on the left side of the layout. I added some ribbon, buttons, and cutout cupcakes to embellish those squares. Have a wonderful Friday and stop by the Stamp Something blog to see what other fun Birthday ideas the DT came up with. Don't forget to play along for a chance to win some Blog Candy from Starving Artistamps! Link your creation to Stamp Something by next Wednesday to be entered to win! Have Fun!

Two more Thank-you cards to share!

I told you last week about the Thank-you cards I was making for a customer. One of my good friend's mom ordered 20 Thank-you cards from me. I made 5 each of 4 different designs. She loved them all. I already shared two with you, and here are the rest of them. This first one was my favorite. If you remember yesterday's post, it is the same layout (told you I've been using it a lot lately, lol!).
I love the different tones of green used on this card with the pop of black. The stamps used are Eastern Blooms and Flight of the Butterfly. The dsp is from Haiku and some old olive print from the retired Bali Breeze pack. I added color to the branch with some olive seed beads.

This one uses a soft, pastel color pallet along with the stamped images from Embrace life. The layout came from a card in the SAB brochure (Sale-a-bration starts on Feb.1). I knew as soon as I saw it I had to use it. Both cards are SUO! Speaking of SU, let me say WOW! I did get my box of catties yesterday and spent the afternoon drooling over it. YIKES! The Designer Paper is going to kill me, I really love it all! The samples are gorgeous throughout the catalog-lots and lots of great ideas! And all the other accessories are just going to be so fun to work with!

Thanks for stopping by! I truly am grateful for all my online friends! You help make this all worth it!

My NMBS Card!

Here it is, my second swap card with the Sweet Stem set. This time I colored it in and used the bright and funky paper, Raspberry Tart (yes, I know I've been calling this paper by the wrong name. LOL! I've gotten it all straightened out now) that SU is going to carry. I'm trying to occupy myself and NOT think about the new catty. I still haven't received mine yet and it's killing me! I feel like the only demo without the new copy in hand. Good news is I got my tracking number yesterday, so I guess I should stop comlaining! It is supposed to be here today!

I played up the pinks on from that paper pack and highlighted them with the olive ribbon and the kiwi designs of dsp. I also added a bit of sparklies (is that a word?) with glitter to the centers of the flowers. This set, Sweet Stems, does not include any sentiments. It is rare for me to order a set without words (remember I like Bang for my Buck!), but I love that it has forced me to pull out my sentiment sets. I used the pretty Stem Sayings here, stamped in black along the left of the image panel. I have to tell you this layout and the one from yesterday have become two favorites of mine. I have used them on various cards I've sent out in the past week. I'll be back with my final two swaps in the coming days! Keep your fingers crossed for me that my box of catties magically appear sooner rather than later! Have a great day!

Hugs, Lisa

Swap Time!

I will be posting lots of SUO (stampin' Up! only) stuff in the coming days. I just finished up a round of swaps (putting the last of them in the mail later today) and actually received my first batch back. This is the one I did for my QCSwappers group. We are a quiet group, not a lot of chatting amongst us, but the ladies can create! It is like Christmas when I receive my box back with all the swap cards in it. I get really excited.

I only preordered one set, so I had to come up with three different cards using this same set. The little flower images in Sweet Stems are really sweet! I chose to NOT color them in and use this one image, as is, stamped in Real Red. The dsp is Candy Lane from the Love You Much bundle. The card is finished off with the Love You sentiment from Short and Sweet punched out with the curly lable punch. It's all tied off with some striped Pink Pirouette ribbon! I hope the girls all loved it! Thanks JoAnn for another wonderful swap! I should be getting another box today full of swap cards from my second group! I'll share those tomorrow!

So MFT challenge cards

I decided to venture out into some of the other member company forums over on SCS. Man, you can get sucked in for days reading, and looking, and chatting. I was so excited to play along with the Guest Designer challenge in the My Favorite Things forum. One of my favorite birthday sets is from MFT and it has gone unloved for some time now-You Take the Cake. I pulled out the little headless woman and created (I actually only used the present and a sentiment from that set on todays card)! Oh, and I couldn't help myself, I had to get my hands on those cute little owls, just released-Owls for all Seasons. So back to the challenge, it was to create a single layer card. EEEEkkkk! I don't always do those so well, but I would love to have the honor of being chosen as a GD for MFT, so I had to give it a go. My first obstacle to overcome was to actually learn how to emboss with my nestabilities WITHOUT cutting first. I love how cards look with the clean embossed frame or scallop and I just haven't been able to achieve that look. Yes, I am a little embarrassed to admit that. I spent some time on Friday and got my sandwich correct and finally got it to work! Look how sweet these cards turned out. I did two for the challenge, now I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

This is a close up of some of the details. I colored with copics and added crystal effects to some of the gifts. I figured out that it is all about the embellishments when you can't add layers to a card! I even did a fancy flower, rhinestone, ribbon/bow! Next up is the cute little owls. I just adore these! There are actually three little cuties, but I only inked up two of them (all three wouldn't fit in my embossed scallop circle!).

And here is a close up of the ribbon embellishment-a Heidi Swapp ghost heart along with the little pink pirouette flower button from SU! Oh, and the ribbon is by PTI, it is the Plum Pudding satin ribbon-OH, SO YUMMY!!!

Happy Monday! Hugs, Lisa

I love to share a Good Thing.

I know it seems like I buy a lot (I do, but truly I pride myself on the fact that I do use everything I purchase, at least once, LOL!). BUT (and there's always a but isn't there) I am not an impulse buyer. I think I have told you all this before. I really think about how much I will really use what I purchase. This is why I have not yet tried any of the My Timeless templates by Lauren Meader (carried by Papertrey Ink). I have loved the idea of them and really love what she has done with them, but I just didn't think they were for me. Boy, was I wrong! Yesterday I decided to finally try one out. For $5 I figured I had not a lot to lose, plus I knew it would work perfectly for the baby note cards I was making for my friend. I chose the All boxed up template since I do a lot of gift note packages and sell some too. The first thing that made me excited was once I paid for the template it was mine (I'm such an instant satisfaction kind of girl, lol!). I downloaded it, printed it and created with it. Here's what I did with it!First is the card I made. My girlfriend is having a baby shower today and I always like to make up a set of thank-you's she can use after the baby is born (there are always tons of thank-you's to write). I know the nursery is done up in light blues, greens and browns and stars! My cards played on those themes. I also just love this little hippo from Pun Fun (all supplies are SUO!) for baby cards. I paper pieced him with a bashful blue dot pattern from the soon-to-be-retired, Summer Picnic dsp pack. Isn't he just the cutest? These cards went together so fast. The stars were cut with my big shot and the Stars #2 die.
Here is the completed All Boxed Up, MyTimeless template! I decided to keep it simple for myself and used the same design on the outside of the box. I also included a photo of the inside of the box. I made this whole project, along with 8 cards and matching envelopes in about an hour (that includes the design process of the card).
I know the girls will just squeal when they see this today. I just love how it turned out and am thinking I need to make myself a set of notecards. Go check out the templates, find one that is right for you and give a try. These are my personal feelings on this product, I don't work for Papertrey Ink (boy wouldn't that be a dream come true, :) or Lauren Meader. I just like to share a good thing when I find one! Have a wonderful Sunday! Hugs, Lisa

TooT! TooT!

Finally! It came, It came!! Yes, lots of exclamation points!!! I am just so excited to finally get my box of goodies from CARDS magazine for my very first publication.
It is the December issue and I did go check it out last month while it was in the stores, because I knew my copies would be arriving later (I just didn't think it would be sooo much later). I was kind of a weirdo because every time I walked into M's or Hobby Lobby I would have to take a peek. Here's the page:
and look, there is my name, IN PRINT!

Thanks for sharing in my excitement. Have a great Saturday. It is pouring rain here, but it is also early, hopefully the temperature doesn't drop. That would be a mess!

Hugs, Lisa

Hip Hop Hangover-post #2 of the day

I didn't get much hip hoppin' in yesterday because it was Joshua's birthday. Plus, Thursday's end up being busy since I volunteer in his classroom. I didn't play along in the hip hop challenges, I rarely miss those. I was a bit sad, but I did do some Unity stamping on Wednesday. I thought I would post them here on my blog, just in case you missed these in my SCS gallery. Make sure you see the amazing new set that was released yesterday. It will be mine, one day soon! I love the sentiments and those lamps are just the cutest! Anyway here are two cards with some Unity eye candy!
Happy Birthday Joshua! I surprised him with this card in his lunch yesterday. He said he was really surprised to see it there. The little cupcake is from Cupcake ala Yummy! and the fun paper is from Paper trunk, you can get it at Limelight Papercraft. The sketch is for the Our Creative Corner blog. Next up is this little ray of sunshine and beautiful quote (Dec. KOTM). I thought I should keep going with the LOVE theme although no pinks or reds on this one. This was for the Unity Addicts, SLIM down challenge.

That's all for me today! Check out Angela's blog for a full list of the Hip Hop Hangover blog list.

Hugs and have a great day! Lisa

No Stamping Allowed!

What?! Yes, you read that right. It is the Stamp Something Challenge this week. The Challenge this week is sponsored by Firecracker Designs by Pamela. So pull out your stickers, rub-ons, photos, ribbons, flowers and all other embellishments and show us what you can do without stamps. Here's mine! It was a challenge, but thanks to my new cardstock stickers by Basic Grey and their fabulous new line, Bittersweet, I was able to pull this card together.

I kept it pretty simple and added the ribbon (blush polka dot satin ribbon by PTI), the brads (bittersweet brads by Basic Grey), and jazzed it up with some paper piercing! Don't forget to see what the rest of the team came up with and link your card to the Stamp Something blog by next Wed. for a chance to win a great prize. Good Luck!

LImelight, Six Chicks Sketch Challenge-It's all about the Texture Baby!

One trend has become VERY noticeable in the paper-crafting industry in the past year: textured products! We have textured cardstock, embossing, fuzzy ribbons, fun flock, and lots of other products that make paper crafting fun to the touch! So this week we ask you: Why don't you reach out and touch....some textured products? (Diana Ross, anyone??) Limelight Papercrafts carries some gorgeous ribbons that are fuzzy, silky, and smooth. Or if that doesn't appeal to you, how about Fun Flock in 9 fun colors!? What about the new Core'dinations textured cardstock? If it's got texture, use it! If you don't have anything from Limelight, that's ok! Use what you do have!

Sketch and Product Challenge with a focus on textured products.
Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC012.
Participants should post a comment and a link to their card on Mandy's blog. All entries must be submitted by Sunday, January 11th , at midnight to win

What is the prize you ask? It's a 12x12 Chocolate box paper pack! WoooWeee! Wanna see this paper is action? I used the Cherry Cordial on my card. I also got my first Odd Bird Planet Stamp, Bigger Nigel the Owl! Isn't this little owl just the cutest?!!!!!

My image was quite small for the main rectangle of this sketch, so I added the scalloped circle to show off this little cutie. I think my favorite feature of the core'dinations paper is when you emboss them you can then sand them and let the color peek through. The pattern paper is called Loverly Flowers and is by Pepples Inc. So, I kind of laughed at myself after I completed this card, because I think I strayed from the challenge a bit. Not the sketch, but using the textured products. I did an awful lot of distressing on this card, I guess I confused myself. But then distressing your paper adds texture, right? I also kicked myself for not getting some flock on my last order with Limelight. I really wanted some for this little guy. You know what that means?....another order will be placed soon! Have fun with the sketch, and don't forget to see what the rest of the DT came up with!
