Sparkles for a Sad day!
The card base is a piece of textured Vanilla cs, then I cut a piece of Cocoa cs to 5 1/4 x 4 inches. I added a piece of Sky ds paper to the top 3/4 of the cocoa piece in the design closest to the pattern on the comforter. I layered my last piece of Choc. satin ribbon with a strip of soft sky double stitched grosgrain (yes, I took out the stitching again). The rectangles were cut using my nesties. I inked the bird in Cocoa craft ink and embossed him with Iridescent Ice EP. Added some Soft Sky berries to the bottom and sponged the edges with Cocoa ink. The sentiment says Sparkle from Warm Words and I used a piece of styled Silver HPH over the top and added two half back pearls from my Pretties Kit. I've seen this done by many but it was the first time I tried it. I think it added to the softness of the card. Okay, this was way longer of a post than I wanted it to be. Make sure you take time today to say the words, "I love you" to someone you do love!

Here Comes Billy!
GSGC02, A Strawberry Birthday
The Great Swap Girls posted their second challenge yesterday. This week it was a sketch challenge. Anyone can play, so stop by and check it out ! I did another card using a new non-SU set but I'll show you that one tomorrow since I haven't posted any SU stuff in a while. The Tart and Tangy stamp set is such a fun set to work with and can be used for any occasion. I stamped the strawberry twice, once in real red and once in wasabi. I cut them both out and then just added the cut, wasabi, stem piece to the red berry. I did add some stickles to the top of the berry and used my Janome sew mini to stitch around the printed wasabi piece of paper. I also added a stitched border around the sentiment. If you ever wanted to add stitching to your cards and have never sewed anything in your life (that was me!) get the Janome. It is a small investment but oh so easy to use. Gina K has an amazing tutorial about how to sew on your cards to help you get started. All products are SU (except the stickles and sewing machine)Stamp:Tart and Tangy, They say it's your BirthdayCS:Jersey shore ds paper,Kraft, real red, choc. chipInk:real red, wasabiAccessories:wide choc. chip grosgrain ribbon, patina stickles, janome sew mini, bold brights brads
NMBS-NVR Swap
All these letters, what do they mean? NMBS is another swap group I am a part of, it stands for No More Bad Swaps. Normally we do all SU stuff, but with this swap those that participated wanted to show off some of the other non-SU products we have. NVR stands for No Vendor Requirements.
It's a dark and gloomy morning here but I wanted to get this card uploaded since I don't know when I'll be back on the computer today. This card uses the PTI set, Pond Life and the Lemon Tart Perfect Match Cs and ribbon. When I started this card I knew I wanted to use this turtle image and the rectangle die cut with my scalloped nestabilities. I pulled some colors to see what would look good with the Lemon Tart and soft sky and celery just spoke to me. Seriously they did. They said, "use us, make a baby card." Don't these colors just scream BABY! I ran the soft sky scalloped rectangle through the swiss dots embossing folder and used a few different words from two other PTI sets (I tried a bunch to see which would fit in the lg. star punch) to create the sentiment. The only SU products I used were the sky and celery cs and ink, and both star punches. Oh, and I used Crystal Effects on the shell of the turtle. I am please with how it turned out. Now I just need to get them out in the mail. Nothing like squeezing it all in at the last minute!

One more before I Go!
So I worked on one more challenge today and I love how it turned out. The Great Swap Girls Blog posted our first featured stamper challenge. Check it out here. Jackie Pedro (SCS name is Strappystamper) is the first chosen one! She has an amazing gallery and I decided on this card to case. Isn't it just the cutest?! Here is my version. I kept the layout the same since it was what I was so drawn to. I changed the colors, added some ribbon, and ds paper.
This is a 4 1/4 square card with textured White cs as the base. I watercolored the images with re-inkers and my aqua painter. Oh and the little cute orange star is from Holiday Blitz.
Congrats, Jackie and thanks for the wonderful inspiration and reason to not pack today.Stamps:Pun Fun,They say it's your Birthday,Holiday BlitzCS: textured white, navy, brocade blue, pumpkin, and bashful blue, pumpkin ds paperInk:pallet noir, pumpkinAccessories:aqua painter, circle and square punches, pumpkin striped grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, ticket corner punch, white gel pen
Racing the Clock!
What I should be doing is packing for our trip, but I really wanted to get in some last minute stamping-so that is what I did. Kristna Werner posted her color inspiration challenge and I just loved it (it had pumpkin in it!). The colors to work with were Sahara Sand, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, and a touch of Wasabi. I pulled out my Bali breeze paper and my Baroque Motif stamp set and got to work. This came together quickly for me since I was working against the clock. The medallion piece is embossed with clear embossing powder and the wasabi ribbon is the double stitched ribbon with the stitching pulled out. I love when I find more than one way to use a product. Stamps: Baroque Motifs, CS:textured sahara sand, pumpkin, saffron, Bali breeze, Ink: versamark, pumpkinAccessories:build a brad, wasabi double stitched ribbon, dimensionals
Lake Fun!
I always have a hard time taking photos of my scarapbook pages, espcially the double spreads. This is two of the pages I completed at the crop I went to two weeks ago. I am so ready for more fun at the lake with friends this summer. Tim spent to day out there yesterday doing some Spring cleaning and ended up working a deal with a company that was doing work at the neighbors to put in a beach for us! I am so excited. We were trying to do this work ourselves last year and we just weren't making any progress by bringing in small loads of sand at a time. So by next week, we'll have a huge truck load of sand delivered and the next time we go out we will have our Beach!
These pages use black as the base and I accented them with the fun summer color combo of Pumpkin, Real Red, and Celery. I used ds paper from Bali Breeze and Summer Picnic packs on the waves and the circles. Stamps: simple serif alpha, spunky alpha (retired),CS: basic black, celery, pumpkin, real red, Bali breeze and summer picnic ds paper, Ink:white kraft, pallet noir, Acces: cm circle cutting system, SU cutter kit, photo corner punch

Great Swaps Girls Color Challenge
Today was the first challenge posted on the Great Swaps blog. It is a color challenge and anyone can play. Saffron, Celery, and Regal Rose-So give it a go and see what you come up with. I used the set called A Little Birdie Told Me. I stamped the little birdie first, masked him and then stamped the larger birdie. This gives the appearance of the little one whispering to the big one. Thanks to whoever came up with this idea, it is just too cute! Recipe: Alittle birdie told me, celery, celery and saffron prints ds paper, whisper white, celery grosgrain ribbon, photo corner punch, aqua painter, re-inkers, black stazon.

More PTI Fun!
After I finished planning for the workshop I'm doing today, I took some time yesterday to work with my new PTI set, Pond Life. It really is a versatile set. I can see myself turning to it many times to make cute little boy cards as well as cards for the grown men in my life.

Duty calls!
I went to a crop this past weekend and was able to complete 8 whole pages for my scrapbook. I had never been to one and it was a hard thing for me to figure out what to pack. I am so used to just sitting down and having everything at my disposal. If I change my mind about a color combo, I can easily just grab what I want. When you are away from home, you are stuck. So I spent to afternoon tweaking a few of the things on a few of the pages. This page was one of them. I had used the kraft as my base and added faux stitching with my white gel pen. As I kept looking at the page it just wasn't working for me. I know I said I don't sweat the small stuff, but I kept looking at my Janome sew mini and thought I should try to stitch for real around the edge of the page. I did and I actually was able to sew in a relatively straight line and do my corners fairly well (yeah, I know you can't even see it from this photo, but trust me it is there and it looks good!)
I got my machine for Christmas and after I changed out the thread one time I just haven't been able to get the tension right. It has been frustrating to me lately to sew on cards or pages. Not today! I liked it so much I then trimmed off the faux stitch marks and then mounted the Kraft base on to a 12x12 sheet of Tempting turquoise. I love how it looks now. I also added the extra little photo corners to the pictures.
Have a great Tuesday!

How does it look?
Here is the site I downloaded it from. I have no idea how to do anything else with it, so I guess I need to do a little more research. I would love to add it to the end of all my posts, without the little box around it. I know there is a way, but I am still so clueless about all these blog things. Speaking of blog thingies, did you see the new little widget (yes, I did learn a new word yesterday) in my sidebar? It is the cool new link to a blog with links to all my cool and uber talented Great Swap gals. Thanks to Becky and Denise for creating it! Check it out if you want to learn more about this amazing group of stampers.

Good Kharma!
Here is the card I made. I love the little bee stamp from Stampendous. I used textured river rock cs for the card base. The card measures 4 1/4 square. I used my rectangle nestabilities to make the scallop square (love getting more milage out of my stuff, plus it saves me from buying the square nesties) and rectangle in groovy guava. I think the black is a nice accent color to this card. I colored the bee with my aqua painter and re-inkers and added a little bit of sparkle to the wings of the bee with stickles. Thanks again for stopping by. Have a great start to your week.

Old and New
Here is this weeks challenge
It was to use an offset oval. I used some of my favorite products, new and old. I finally got the swiss dots embossing folder for my cuttlebug-new. It is so cool and I know you'll be seeing more of it! The colors I used were Perfect Plum and Pale Plum (old) with some accents of old olive. The Butterfly is from one of my favorite sets, Priceless that debuted in the SU catty last July(so kind of old and kind of new). I stamped the butterfly with versamark on Perfect Plum cs and then embossed it with clear embossing powder (old). The butterfly is popped up on dimensionals to look like he is in flight. I added a little bit of stickles (the best glitter glue out there and it comes in amazing colors!) to the sentiment and the swirls of the butterfly.
Thanks for stopping by! I'm doing pretty good my first week of blogging-a post everyday so far. Hugs!
stamps: Priceless, Warm Words
Ink:pale plum, perfect plum, versamark

Busy working on some things...
This is the card I just did for a swap with some of the girls in the Great Swaps group. I chose to showcase the Ribbon slide (it is a piece from the new Styled Silver HodgePodge Hardware kit from the Spring mini). I showed it used two different ways on this card. I used it with a Ice Rhinestone brad placed in through the center and then used as the middle of the flower image. Then I used it with some ribbon as an accent on the Photo corner punch on the left side of the card. Hope the girls will like it. I can't wait to see what the cards look like that I will get back. I'll post pics of those since they will be showing some of the other cool accessories from the Spring Mini (rubons and die cut flowers!) after I get them back.
Happy Wednesday!
Stamps:Friendly Flowers, One of a Kind (used for the sentiment, I just omitted the little flower)
cS: textured white, wasabi, basic grey, Summer picnic ds paper
Ink: garden green and bashful blue markers, basic grey
Accessories: double stitched wasabi ribbon, ribbon slide, photo corner punch, ice rhinestone brad, round tab punch.

Sharing the Love!

Here is what I did Today!
OMG! I can't belive I just did it!
I live for nap time and that is when most of my creative juices flow. Well, they start flowing in my mind all throughout the day as I am inspired by many things but it is between 2 and 4 pm that I get to put the ideas to paper.
I am a happily married mom to three adorable little boys. While I love greens and blues, it is through my cardmaking that I can happily use all the pinks and flowers that I want to! I also love to scrapbook and take a ton of pictures to capture all the cute things my little guys do.
Thanks for stopping by. I'll have more to share as I learn the ropes of blogging and how to upload pics and stuff!
Hugs!
