CAS Tuesday

Really it is a CAS Monday for me since I really enjoy starting my week off with these quick and easy cards. The CAS challenge at SCS was a sketch challenge and I actually did two cards with it yesterday. Here's the first one.
I just love the Unity March KOTM! I know, I know, I say it all the time, probably about everything I show you here. If I didn't love it, I would buy it! This fun little candy image was just perfect for a CAS card. The dsp is from the retired, Summer Picnic pack from SU. I colored the image with copics and added crystal effects and glitter to the strawberry. The ribbon is sweet blush twill from Papertrey ink. So after I did this first card, I took a break and played with the boys. Hey, look what Ryan did today. Yep, he's a 2-wheelin' man!Later, while I was trying to get Nicholas to nap (nope, he didn't sleep today or yesterday, but he did nap the three days last week.) the idea for this next card came to me. AND I LOVE IT!

I used the PTI set, polka dot basics with two of their colors-raspberry fizz and summer sunrise along with some chocolate chip. The deer and sentiment are Unity. I dressed up the cute little deer with a flower fusion felt flower and rhinestone brad. Isn't it just adorable? I just love that font. I hope Angela uses it more!

Come back tomorrow and see the challenge I get to host in the MFT forum. I was picked as an ambassador during last month's release and now I get to host a challenge. You don't want to miss out! I'm just so giddy! Hugs, Lisa

Two days left of SAB!

April 1 is almost here. So if you haven't gotten all the SAB Freebies you wanted, be sure to get your orders in by tomorrow night. You can order directly from my website, see the link in my sidebar. This also means in two days you can order from the new Occasions mini. Here are two cards I did for swaps. These both use the new paper and new stamp set, Great Friend. They also use the bigz Butterfly die. I told you last week this is one of my new FAVES!

This first card was for my GSG group. Isn't the color combo great? I've been using a lot of pale plum lately and pairing it with basic grey. For this card I threw in a pop of kiwi and think it looks great. This next card is very similar, but I pulled the colors from a different pattern of dsp (a walk in the park)-baja, cameo coral, and basic grey. Plus I used more of the stamps to accent the cardstock. This card was for my NMBS group. Enjoy your Monday! Check back tomorrow for my CAS challenge card. Hugs, Lisa

Today's the DAY!-World Record Blog Hop with Unity Stamp Co.!!!!

Yes, today is the day where you can spend time hopping from blog to blog and get TONS of Unity inspiration. There are over 200 participants. WOW!!! I will try to make this simple for you to follow. If you happened upon my blog by chance (welcome!) but you need to start the Inspirational Blog Hop by going Here (which is Angela's blog, the official Unity Stamp Co. blog!)
From there you will hop from one blog to the next by clicking the link that blog has provided. The next blog to go to will be at the end of this post.
Now for my Unity projects. The sentiment, the little birdies and the flowers are all from the Feb. KOTM, Endings and Beginnings. Each month, the kits just get better and better.
The next project I have to share today uses stamps from the amazing, March KOTM, Simple Life! I think this is going to be my new favorite kit. All I can say, if you are looking for a deal on stamps, and want fun hip images, then you must check out Unity's monthly stamp kits. There is a special going on right now, sign up for the kit and get a coupon for $15 off a past kit of the month (special good through Sunday!). So here it is, an altered tin to hold cards. I did the tin up with some of my favorite October afternoon dp. I used some very cool card stock sticky letters from CTMH and stamped them up with some bits and parts of images from the journaling block, the rainbow, and the dots from the two trees-all stamps from the kit. The "thanks a bunch" flower matched this paper almost perfectly. I colored those with copics and added three of them to the journaling block. I had to add my favorite sentiment, Live Simply, so I got that on this tin too. Finished it off with a few buttons and lots of yummy ribbon! It's a little busy, but I think it is just darling! So there you have it, my contribution to this HUGE Unity Blog Hop! Keep on truckin' and don't forget to leave some love along the way. Before I go, I have a quote to share. I am not a quote person per say, but Angela is and I really do love to read the quotes and words of wisdom she always leaves for us. She asked us to include a fave quote here today. I found this one while I was finishing reading The Shack (for the second time. Have you read it? I highly recommend it if you haven't. )
Faith never knows it is being led, but it knows and loves the One who is leading.

-Oswald Chambers

That's all I have for you today, actually for this weekend. I'm pooped! Plus I've got some projects I'm working on for next week. Stay tuned! Thanks for being part of this World Record Blog Hop with Unity! If you are new to Unity stamps, check out this special!

From my blog you need to hop on over to Andreascraps!

Check it out! It's HHH!

Hip Hop Hangover

How stinkin' cool is that?!!! Angela had her tech people come up with this super fun blinkie! She had a bunch other Unity blinkies made up,too. Go see them and grab one for your blog! I got the Hip Hop Challenges done (always a goal of mine on Thursdays) and I just think they turned out super cute. I'm only sharing one today and saving the other for the World Wide Blog Hop Tomorrow. I'll have some other Unity goodies to show you too (at least I hope I do, hehehehe!). Here's the card I did for the No Sour Grapes at Unity Challenge-use purple, black and white on your card. I kept it CAS and used this cute little flower from the March KOTM, Simple Life! I love the white embossed layer, something about it just makes me smile. The purples I used are Pale Plum and Perfect Plum (SU). I colored the leaf with my copics and added a patch of grass (just had to ground that flower). The actual flower is paper pieced with Perfect Plum cs and finished off with a black PTI vintage button and some plum pudding satin ribbon. Check out the HHH list here or on Angela's blog. Enjoy your day! Hugs, Lisa

Stamp Something with this Sketch!

Our own talented DT member, Emily, came up with this great sketch to work with this week. I thought it was super and gave me a great way to show case this huge butterfly. This Stamp Something challenge is sponsored by Layers of Color. Be sure to stop by the Stamp Something blog to see how the other girlies used this sketch. Also, come play along and link your card for a chance to win a prize! I did SUO on this card and it is going out in the mail for a special birthday surprise to one of my swap sistaha's! I'm not saying who, she just might be lurking. Have I told you all how much I am in love with the Beautiful Butterfly Bigz die? Oh, wait, you haven't seen all the cards I've been making with them yet. Well here is one of them and I'm so proud of it. Plus it shows off the new pretty dsp, A walk in the Park and new color of corduroy buttons. YUM-O! Instead of the square panel, I used the butterfly die cut image. I kept the other two panels very simple, just some textured cs in white and baja and added a little piercing to their edges. The card base is (yes, Becky, I used it again!) cameo coral! I never use this color, but in the past two years SU has but out some pretty fantastic dsp with this color in it so I am forced to use it and I always love how it looks. Stop back by I'll have a Hip Hop Hangover post later today! Oh, and don't forget I'll have more Unity goodies on Saturday-its the HUGE blog hop! You don't want to miss out! Hugs, Lisa

Getting Inky

My stamping world is a little turned upside down at the moment. As you know, I live for nap time, it's my time to stamp. Well, what happens when nap time is no more? Ummmm, I don't get a lot done. For almost 7 years ( well at least the last two I've been religiously stamping almost everyday) I have used this two hour, almost completely uninterrupted time to be creative. Nicholas has almost stopped napping completely this last week! WHAT?! How can this be? He only just turned 2, my other two didn't give up naps until they were almost 4! I'm a little upset about this, but will find something that works for us. If you have any suggestions, bring 'em on! Here are the two quick cards I did yesterday. I got my Unity March KOTM, Simple Life, a bit inky! This silhouette floral image is one of my favorites from the kit (the whole kit is amazing!). I used the Wed. Unity addicts challenge for this first one. We were to use the colors-turquoise, orange, pink, and brown. I almost pulled out some retired Bali Breeze dsp, but decided on some Pink Flamingo (SU) and Offbeat (Basic Grey). The second one was even quicker. Happy Thursday! Hugs, Lisa

PTI Blog Hop

It seems like forever since I've gotten to join in on the fun for the Papertrey Ink blog hop. I was prepared this month and had my card done two days ago! How 'bout that for planning. The challenge this month was to create your own pattern paper using your PTI stamps of course. This is so easy to do with almost any set PTI has come out with. There are many sets they sell that were created just for this purpose-great customized designer paper. I went with an old stand by, Polka Dot Basics but jazzed it up a bit with some fishies from Pond Life set. I used lots of PTI colors-ocean tides, melon berry, berry sorbet, lemon tart, summer sunrise and even a little sweet blush in there. Here is my completed customized paper, before I cut it down to size.
And, dada, da, DA! Here is my finished card. It is just so bright and cheery! I can't wait to give it to my friend and neighbor on Friday for her birthday. I used Melon berry for my card base and then ran a piece of Berry Sorbet through my big shot with the Tiny Bubble embossing folder. I created the waves on my image panel with the slot punch (from SU) with some Ocean Tides cs and Soft Sky (again SU) cs. I finished the card off with some vintage buttons in melon berry, some twill ribbon and the Pond Life Sentiment, "birthday fishes"! I'm so excited to see all the other wonderful inspiration the rest of the PTI "junkies" come up with. Thanks for stopping by. See you over in the PTI forum. Hugs, Lisa

MFT Idol

So have you voted? Today is the day to vote for your favorite MFT Idol. Wowza there is some amazing talent in that competition. Here's the link to the poll so you can vote. For those that are interested and because Kim is pretty amazing herself, she has encouraged any of the judges (you , me, and the general voting public) to play along. There may even being prizes involved. This week was a challenge to use the masking technique. Here is my card. I used the flowery cake from You Take the Cake and the new-to -me Who's that E-girl set. The dp is October afternoon. LOL-yes there is some more of that polka dotted summer sun dp on this card. I stamped the cake and stand first, masked it off and added the E-girl image. Check back later, I've got some PTI goods to share. I played along with the Blog Hop this month!

My new favorite way to start the week

Yes, I have decided that I really like to start my Monday's with the CAS challenge over at SCS. I've been talking about them for a few weeks now and I really look forward to seeing what the challenge is on Monday. This week's challenge was to make a CAS card with punches. I decided to use these gorgeous daisy die cut flowers (thanks, Kristin) as my punched imaged. The card base is baja breeze and I added a bit of dsp from the new paper pack, A Walk in the Park. The sentiment comes from the new set, Great Friend (both the stamp set and paper are available on April 1). I'm not exaggerating when I say this card took all of 5 minutes to make. If you really want some CAS inspiration, do a search in the SCS gallery with the keyword, CAS. Or check out the gallery for this challenge here. Hope your day is beginning on a positive note! Hugs, Lisa

A Limelight Scrapbook Challenge

If you've been reading Mandy's blog then you know she gave you a heads up about an additional sketch challenge this month. Normally we do two a month, but this month one of our Guest Designers, Amy, asked if she could host a scrapbook sketch challenge. I've done a few of Amy's sketches before, she's posted them in the Unity Member Forum over on SCS and they are always fabulous. Here is the sketch we had to work with. You know I love circles, so I was super excited about this one. Here's my page.I rarely just scrap 1 picture, but I've had this sitting in my pile for months and I just love the photo. It was the only one I took that day. Just a moment of pure silliness from the boys while they were playing with their Webkinz. I also have been wanting to ink up this rubber, Cuter Than Most by Unity Stamp Co. Since I only had 1 photo for this layout, I decided to make my own stamped embellishment to fill the other space from the sketch. The alphabet is by Basic Grey-it's self adhesive naked chipboard and Limelight carries it! The dp is by October Afternoon and it works great with this stamp set. So now, I challenge you to scrap some pictures this week.

You have until Monday March 31st to upload a link to your project to Mandy's blog a random winner will be chosen to win Piggy Tales Sliding Doors!! These things are so cool!!!

Have a Great Monday! Lisa

Contest Entries-SUO!

Last month I spent a few days working on some cards for the monthly Stampin' Up! demo only contests. One of the perks of being a demo is receiving a monthly publication just for demos! Each month there are three or 4 categories listed for a contest. Any demo can enter, you just have to mail them your creation. It had been a few months since I sent anything in, so I wanted to get in the game. If your card gets picked, you win 3 Free stamp sets of your choice. How cool is that?! This card and the next one both use the Good Friend stamps set and Good Morning Sunshine dsp. They didn't get picked, BUT this next card did! I'm so honored and so excited. It will be published in our May issue of Stampin' Success! I'll have more SUO stuff coming this week. I've been a last minute stamper, working on swap cards with some of the new Occassions Mini products! Have a great Sunday!

AJ Tagged Me...

...and I thought this was fun. Plus when I went looking in my photo files, this is the picture that qualified-sixth picture in my sixth photo folder. How sweet is this? I remember the day well. He was crying and tugging on me saying, "nite, nite". I kept telling him, "one more minute" (I was on the computer, of course). When I finally got off I found him asleep on the floor. I couldn't resist taking the picture and I can't wait to scrap it. Thanks, AJ for the tag!
Now these tagging games have rules and here they are:
•Open your photo folder on your computer
•Open the 6th folder of photos
•Select the 6th picture
•Post the picture on your blog with a description
•Invite six friends to join the challenge
•Link your six friends to your blog post
Here are the six I'm taggin'
Have fun ladies, I'll be checking in to see if you played along! Hugs, Lisa

A little More Spring

I had this one still sitting on my desk and thought I should share it there, too. I posted it to my SCS gallery the other day for the color challenge-Riding Hood Red, Summer Sun, and Kraft (black was optional). I think this little mushroom is adorable. Stamps are all Unity, again from the Feb. KOTM. Are you sick of that yellow polka dotted paper yet? I'm not, I love it. Funny thing is, I really like the design on the flip side (that's the reason I got it in the first place) but haven't been able to work it into a card yet. Have a wonderful Saturday! Tomorrow I'll step away from the Unity and share some SUO stuff! Hugs, Lisa

Happy Spring, Happy HHH!

If you are looking for the Stamp Something challenge, please scroll down, it is the first post I did today. If you weren't looking for it and want to see it anyway (it's cute, I promise) please scroll down, too! There is a prize involved.
So, I am back with a little HHH (Hip Hop Hangover)! I didn't get any chatting in with the Unity Peeps yesterday because Tim was home, I had to make dinner for a friend, and I had to volunteer at the school, BUT I did take some time to make two cards. Each week, Jeanne comes up with two great challenges to get us to use our Unity rubber! Challenge #1 was to create a card using Easter colors. My new pack of dsp, A Walk in the Park, was calling to me. Really it was, it said, "Here I am, open me. Look at me! Use me!". So this is was I came up with. Oh, and I am finally, happy to say I have now used most of the images from my Feb. KOTM (Endings and Beginnings). There was a little mix up in the shipping, so I got my kit late. I was feeling pressure since my March kit should be here any day now (I hope). Okay, enough babble, on to the card.
I LOVE how this turned out. You can get this new pack of dsp on April 1 . The colors in it are-basic grey, cameo coral, kiwi, baja, and saffron. The ribbon is the saffron grosgrain from the SAB ribbon bundle (you can get that FREE until March 31, contact me to place an order). The layout was roughly inspired by the Diva's Coffee Break Designs blog. Kristin's card this week was so cute and I guess it was still in my head when I designed this card. Challenge #2 was to create a card using ovals.

This was a no brainer for me since there is this beautiful egg stamp in the KOTM. I stamped it three times on three different patterns of the SAB Darling Dots dsp pack. The flourish in the corner comes from the Growing in Unity kit. You can't see it in this photo, but I did add some stickles to the flourishes. It adds just the right touch of sparkle. Hey, it pays to play! I just saw that this card was picked as the winner. Doin' the Happy Dance! Unity rocks and so do Hip Hop Thursdays. Okay, I have gone on long enough. Do stop by Angela's blog (or this thread on SCS) to see what the other HHH peeps have posted today. Hugs, Lisa

Today is the official first day of Spring. That makes me happy! I just wish it were a bit warmer today, but the sun is shining so I won't complain. Our Stamp Something Challenge this week is to make something Springy! Our sponsor this week is Roses on Paper. Come play along and be sure to link your creations to the Stamp Something blog for a chance to win a prize. Easter reminds me of Spring and I had this cute new stamp by Stampedous waiting to be inked up. Do the colors look familiar? Yes, I used the same combo yesterday and I just love it-Soft sky, pink pirouette and summer sun! You can get the stamp, the ribbon, the designer paper by October Afternoon and the pink satin ribbon at Limelight. Did you see all the wonderful creations the DT came up with for yesterday's sketch challenge? Don't forget you can play along with me for that challenge too for a chance at another prize. See, I'm just full of fun info! Be sure to check back later, I'll be back with some Unity eye candy and a HHH post!
Hugs, Lisa

Fluff and Stuff

Today is a Limelight sketch challenge day. This week week our product feature is anything fluffy or fuzzy. I knew right away I wanted to try some Fun Flock with my new Stampendous Chick stamps. Yes, I said try. Can you believe I have never used flock before? It is such a fun embellishment, and Limelight carries lots of great colors. Here's the sketch to work with. Be sure to play along and link your card to Mandy's blog post for a chance to win: One jar of Purple Pleaser Fun Flock AND one package of Pineapple Sparkle Fibers.

Okay, so wanna see my card? I think it turned out oh-so cute! How can you not smile when you see these adorable little chickies dressed up like bunnies? The stamps, designer paper (October Afternoon), ribbon, and flock can all be found in the Limelight Papercraft store. I added the Fun Flock to both the pink chicks. Here is a close up of the fuzz.

I colored the images with copics, embossed the pink pirouette cs with the Swiss Dots cuttlebug folder, and tied off some pretty pink satin ribbon on the corner to finish the card off. Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the rest of the DT to see how they used the fluff and Stuff with this week's sketch: Becky, Ryann, Jen Marie, Lee, Lorie, Mandy, and our March guest designers Amy and Holly

Some Rays of Sunshine

Ahhhhh, Spring is right around the corner I can feel it. Yesterday was picture perfect here in Cinci and this whole week is supposed to be pleasant. I just love Spring. Here are two cards I did a few weeks back and never shared with you. The first is similar in layout to one I posted last week. It uses the Flowers from Neverland stamp by Unity. Guess where you can now get it (aside from Unity)? Yep, Limelight! Mandy just got in her new shipment of Unity stamps. Place an order, win an egg filled with goodies AND sign up for the Limelight newsletter to take advantage of this awesome Sale:A NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBER SALE!We *HEART* our newsletter subscribers! As a thank you to you, Limelight is offering a special discount code good for 15% off of your total order now through Sunday, March 22. Simply enter NEWSLETTER at checkout to receive the 15% off. You MAY share this code with friends, if you'd like!
This next card is SUO and has NO stamping on it. Just a little Pink Flamingo dsp and some rubons. Isn't it just so cheerful?! The card base is Basic grey and I just love how those flowers are falling from the sky. I hope these put you in a good mood. I'll be back tomorrow with a sketch challenge with my Limelight peeps! Happy Hump Day! Hugs, Lisa

I Stamped!

Boy, oh, Boy can you loose your mojo when you don't stamp for a while. I had a whole pile of stamps waiting for me when I got home from my trip and I had no idea where to start today. I took it slow and only cranked out 1 card. I used Ms.Boo's CAS06 challenge and was inspired by these shoes. Robeez shoes are the best. I didn't have them for my first two kids, but Nicholas had two pairs (actually he had the knock-offs from Target. I could never bring myself to spend the money on the brand name, and for $12.95 at Target, I just couldn't resist) and they were awesome. Check out their website and be inspired! I knew as soon as I saw those cute owl shoes I could ink up my new Forest Friends stamp set (available April 1 from SU). The layout was inspired by Joanne's gorgeous card from Friday. So here is my first card back. Thanks for all the sweet comments you all left while I was away. Tim and I had so much fun. I love that we had some time to re-connect and just hang out. It was a bit of a busy time away since we drove back and forth from Tampa and Orlando, but we were able to do a little bit of everything. We almost got to see the Space Shuttle take off, but it was re-scheduled so we missed it. We spent a day at Universal studios riding roller coasters, we spent a day at the beach soaking up some warmth, we got to eat at one of our favorite seafood restaurants, and we met up with some old friends. I read a book, ate lots of late night dinners, and did a little bit of shopping (Kristin, I got a new bead for my bracelet). I'll be back tomorrow with some more new sneak peeks from the mini (I hope). Hugs, Lisa

I'm so impressed with myself!

I should have been doing lots of other things last week to get ready for my little trip, but I felt it was a priority of mine to make sure all my posts were in order before I left. See, I told you how much I appreciate you all! Today is another CAS challenge, but I just don't know how much stamping time I'll get today (not to mention I have my Occassions mini pre-order sitting there calling my name. It arrived while I was away). So I saved my card from last week to schedule one last post just so I didn't feel pressured to sit at the computer this fine Monday morning! Miss Boo gave us two colors to work with, greens and blues, for our CAS creations. My good friend and stamping buddy, Kristin Moore, always talks about how she pulls out her color wheel for inspiration. I rarely do this, but last Monday I gave it a whirl. I looked up Not Quite Navy and it told me to pair it with bashful blue, always artichoke, and close to cocoa. I love this combo and know I'll be using it on a scrapbook page very soon. Here is an SUO card with a Trendy Tree! Give this combo a try or pull out your color wheel and find one of your own. If you do, feel free to link it here so I can see! Happy Monday! Hugs,Lisa

GSG swap card #2

So here is the second card I did for the new catty swap with my GSG girls. I played off the fun, retro, funky color combo from the Retro Style Watch section of the catalog (pg. 10). I had to make this card a little bigger so I could fit the full birdie on the card, along with the scalloped circle.
It's definitely a funky chicken kind of card! LOL! Hope your having a wonderful weekend. We're on our way home today. We had to get up early to catch our flight, but it will be nice to have the afternoon to spend with the boys. Hugs, Lisa

GSG Swap card #1

I'm keeping the posts coming while I'm away. I've been saving this to show you till now. I did two swap cards with my GSG group for the new catalog. I received my package early last week with all the fabulous cards. WOW! is all I can say. I am so proud and honored to be a part of this group. Here is the card I did using Trendy Trees.
I shared a similar card a few weeks back with a different color combo. I loved the summer sun combined with the kiwi and chocolate. The trees were stamped in Versamark and I created a little faux button with a flower from the Birds and Blooms die. This is easy to do with any circle, just punch two holes in the center and tie some thread through it! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs, Lisa

Stamp Something Green

Today is Friday, just in case you didn't know. I have my sample to share for the Stamp Something challenge this week. I was lucky enough to get a few images from our sponsor this week, Rare Rubber Stamps (thanks, Erin for sending those out to me!). The stamp something challenge this week is a color challenge-anything green. I kept mine monochromatic with the two PTI colors of Spring Moss and New Leaf. Come play along and be sure to link your creation to the Stamp Something blog. Enjoy your day!

Neverland Flowers

I just adore this row of flowers from my Unity, November KOTM (you can buy this stamp as a single too)! They look fabulous stamped on white and colored in or like I did them here, stamped on Kraft with white or cream ink. I added a pop of color to them with Fruit Punch stickles. Love the touch of sparkle this added. The ribbon is yummy hot pink satin ribbon from MFT! The strip of dp is from the SU pack called Urban Oasis. Love the simplicity of this card and the pop of color! Have a delightful day! Hugs, Lisa

On an airplane...

well, almost. Tim and I leave around noon today for a little get-away. It is much needed, but I am also a pretty nervous. My parents came down to stay with the boys and I know they will be more than taken care of. So that is not what I am nervous about, it's the flight. Call us crazy, but DH and I considered flying seperatly because of the boys. I have never been afraid to fly, but let me tell you once we had kids it all changed. I guess everything changes because of kids, lol! I am so excited to feel some warm sunshine and to get a little alone time with my hubby. I think it has been over two years since we escaped alone for more than a few hours.
I am so used to posting almost everyday that I couldn't leave without scheduling some cards for you. Over the last week, I have been working on some CAS cards and decided to save some of them to show you this week. MissBoo on SCS is running a CAS challenge each week (it just got started about 5 weeks ago) and a new challenge is posted every Monday . Here's the link to this challenge. I used kraft as my base and added some reds and pinks with a piece of Pink Flamingo dsp from SU. The stamps are from PTI, Greenthumb (one of the first PTI sets I purchased two years ago!). Thanks for stopping by. I've got another CAS card for you tomorrow. I won't be Hip Hoppin' but the card has some Unity on it. Hugs, Lisa

A little nervous...

Did you hear? MFT is holding auditions for their version of American Idol. Auditions are due by tomorrow and the judges will pick a top 10. From there, Amercia votes (in my best Ryan Seacrest voice). My DH and I have been loyal AI fans from the start. Did any of you watch the very first AI when Kelly won. It is amazing to me how the talent was back on that first show compared to the talent they have to choose from now. I'm looking forward to the start of it this week, I really get into it when they get down to the top 12! Who's your favorite? I really like the guy (can't think of his name) from Wisconsin who lost his wife. His voice is very cool and he seems to have a personality to go with it. Anyway, back to MFT. There is a $250 prize up for grabs! How cool is that. I was so nervous to enter, but I did it. You can't win if you don't try. Here is my entry. It is such a me card-scallops, cirlces, owls, paper piecing, ribbon layered up with a ghost heart, button and some linen thread. I even came up with a cool new color combo-melon berry, ocean tides (both PTI colors) and basic grey. Wish me luck! I have no idea how the judges will narrow it down. Go take a look at the MFTidol Gallery and you'll see what I mean. The talent is awesome! Hugs, Lisa
Oh, Yeah, don't forget to set your clocks ahead tonight if your state takes part in daylight savings time!

A Tisket A Tasket...

A green and yellow basket! Sorry if you'll be signing that one all day but I couldn't resist. It is the 6th of the month and that means the Six Chicks have our project parade. This month we were making or decorating baskets. I am so excited to share mine with you. I've had it sitting on my desk since Monday and I am so proud of my idea. So here it is!
Wanna know how I did it? It was easy and really not that time consuming. My base is one of those acrylic paint cans. Did you know Limelight carried them? I didn't until a few weeks ago. Mandy has some very cool alterable items in the store. Go check them out, they are listed under Accessories! Here is a quick tutorial on how I turned it into a basket. It's easy, you just need to channel your elementary school days! Remember those weaved place mats we made for Thanksgiving and then the teacher would go laminate them for you to take home and use? Same basic idea. I just weaved strips of Kiwi cs. Here's some visual for you.
I used a sheet of 12x4 1/4 inch textured kiwi cs (measure your can first, and remove the handle) for my base. I cut long slits along the base 1 inch apart. I then cut strips of the same cs 1 x 4 1/4 inch. I sponged the edges of all the cs with chocolate ink. Then I just weaved the strips through the base piece, alternating the over under pattern.
After I had the pieces all weaved together I simply wrapped it around the can and attached with red-lined sticky strip (any strong adhesive will work). Here is the finished can, all wrapped up.

I had scraps of the October Afternoon dp, picnic basket, and the wide ric rac still on my desk from my scrapbook page (don't forget to play along in this week's sketch challenge for a chance to win some of that ric rac!) so I pulled those together to create the cute little tag to adorn my basket. I also realized that the Almighty God stamp from Unity isn't just for Christmas. Easter is a time to celebrate Christ so I knew it would be perfect to remind us of the reason of the season! Topped it off with some Primas and a rhinestone brad. Come follow me and see what other fun baskets the rest of the DT created!
