Cards for Him Blog Hop

I am super excited to be a part of this awesome Blog Hop with Catherine Pooler. The newest online class “Cards For Him” is now open for registration!  This is perfectly timed for Father’s Day which is right around the corner, but of course is great for masculine card ideas year-round.

I think most paper crafters will say that masculine cards are one of the hardest cards to create. This card class will sure get your guy-mojo flowing. Lots of great tips, tricks and inspiration.

I was inspired by the nautical themed cards and pulled out my Happy Harbor set by Reverse Confetti along with some nautical themed papers (all supply links are listed below, but I did use all RC stamps and Confetti Cuts to create my card today) to get a jump on a Father's Day card.

Here is a closer look at the detail I added. The anchor from Happy Harbor was stamped in navy ink and then I gave it a coating of clear embossing powder. I tied on some kraft burlap twine. The banner is from Beautiful Banners. I stamp first and then use the matching die to cut it out. I stamped the sentiment in Kraft ink. The word dad was custom stamped thanks to the Lighthearted Letters set.

TCPTues265-Right Kind of Awesome

Welcome back for another TCPTuesday challenge with the Cat Pack. This go round we have a gorgeous color challenge. They are some of my favorite colors to work with right now, so I couldn't pass up the chance to play. Here's my sample. 

Here is the color board for this challenge. Pretty great, huh?

I used the flying Sprinkles image,Flying By (see links below). I stamped her in momento tuxedo black ink and then used my copics to color her up. I have a friend who is a pilot and this is my second attempt at sending her a card with this image. The first one got lost in the mail :( I then cut her out and used some foam adhesive to pop her up. I heat embossed the clouds with some white embossing powder on the Sno cone cardstock. I used the Framed Up 2 cut ups to showcase this focal image. The larger frame in the background was cut with vellum. I love the soft touch it adds to the card. 

Here is close up of the sentiment. It's my favorite! I stamped it in navy ink. I hate that navy is so hard to photograph. I use it alot and it always looks like black. Boo!

 I accented it with a few "arrows" from the Chevron cover plate. I added some enamel dots and sequins for a few more bits of fun!

SugarPea Designs {Birthday Go-pher}

I adore this gopher from Sugar Pea Designs.  I needed a boy birthday card this weekend for a 7 year old and I thought the current challenge (SPD04) was the motivation I needed. It's a Clean & Simple card, while my card doesn't necessarily fit the "clean" category, it still is a rather simple design. 

 Boys are all about grunge and mud, so I distressed my background and added color with a stencil and spritzing of my Tim Holtz Distress Markers. I used my SU Color Spritzer (I have the original one from waaaaayy back. Glad I held onto that thing). 

I decided to not color up the adorable image. This gopher just cracks me up. It's from the Go-pher it! stamp set.  I simply stamped him on kraft cardstock with navy ink and used a circle die (all links below) to cut him out. I added the sentiment to a few colorful fishtail flags and attached them with some tiny staples. A scattering of enamel dots finished it off.
