We have a masculine theme this month and it was the perfect chance for me to get a jump on a Father's Day gift. Something simple for our simple guy. The fun all starts over on the RC Blog, but hopefully you arrived here from Heather's Blog.
Be sure to leave comments along the way. There is hidden blog candy on one of the DT Blogs. You could be the lucky winner of a $15 RC Gift Card.
Here is the combo of goodies the boys will give to dad on his special day. Yesterday I shared a card for the Sweet Sunday Sketch. I was inspired by that to create a matching book mark from our three little monkeys. You can read about the card details HERE.
I used all RC products on my book mark. The base of my book mark was created with the Folded Tag Confetti Cut. Say what?? Yep, it's easy to make it longer with just an extra step and a little creative die cut placements. Let me show you.
1. Run the Folded Tag die through your machine, but STOP BEFORE it goes all the way through, leaving the bottom edge un-cut and still attached to the card stock.
2. Slide the die down a bit, as far as you want for your desired tag length. Take care to line up the cut marks up with your first cut to get straight edges. I tape the die down with washi tape to make sure it doesn't move when putting it through the machine again.
3. Now this time BEFORE you run it through your die cut machine again, flip your plates so the bottom half of the die goes in first. STOP once you have reached the point where the die is lined up with your first cut marks. DO NOT run the die all the way through the die machine EITHER time.
Here you can see the elongated Folded Tag die cut piece.
I used a Circles 'n Scaollops to cover up the double stitched lines. That became my focal point for the sentiment.
I cut a banner piece from Tag Me in kraft card stock and then embossed a sentiment from Leaping Lions in white embossing powder. I was able to personalize the book mark with the Lightheart Letters set and stamped the word "dad" in Black Licorice hybrid ink. I cut our each letter and added it above the banner piece.
The real star of the show are those sweet little monkeys. We have three boys, so I stamped 3 of the cuties from Monkey Business, and colored them with my copic markers. I made each one just a little different and added them to the book mark in a playful way. The Monkey Business Confetti Cuts made it easy to get a nice clean cut with the white outline around each monkey. To fill in some empty space on the book mark, I tucked in some Double Banner Garland and some teeny hearts from Shakers 'n Frames Confetti Cuts.
I love how this turned out and I'm sure dad will too. Like I said, he's a simple guy and seriously, he asked for a book mark for Father's Day. I love my Kindle, but he still loves his real books and uses a book mark daily. I think it's always fun to be able to make a personalized gift with all the right products. Reverse Confetti makes that easy! Here's another look at the finished project.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. That's it from me, but there is so much more to see! Please follow me to the awesome talents of Jean, her blog is up next.
