Reverse Confetti {September Release Blog Hop}

We’ve been counting down the days, and it’s finally here—a new release from REVERSE CONFETTI!

It’s the 8th of the month (Reverse Confetti blog hop day) and this time we are looking forward to those fall days and the spooky treats that come our way for Halloween.  Come and hop along with the Confetti Crew as we share some creative ideas using September’s five new trendy stamp sets.  Along with the Confetti Crew (our fabulous design team), we’ve also invited some extra friends to join in on the action!

The hop started over on the Reverse Confetti blog, and you should have made it here from Laurie’s blog. It would be worth your while to start at the beginning of the hop, so you don’t miss a thing. We have tons of inspiration for you to see using all the new Reverse Confetti stamp sets!

I am so glad you made it. I have a pretty festive fall mixed media canvas for you today. I am over the moon excited to show this to you. I LOVE how it turned out.

It always surprises me when a crafty project ends up differently than how I envisioned it.

 I have learned that mixed media takes time. Yes, days, even. I spent three days on this, walking away from it and then coming back to it with a fresh eye. As much as it annoys me to wait for things to dry, I've learned it's a good thing.

I thought I wanted to do a Halloween canvas, but in the end I went with a more general fall theme. Let me show you how I got this started.

I used a bunch of scraps from an older Halloween paper pack, Mischievous by My Minds Eye. I used some Matte Medium to adhere it to my blank canvas.

After adding lots of gesso, modeling paste (for texture with the hexagon stencil), paints, I ended up with this  decorated canvas ready for stamping and my handmade embellishments. I love the rich colors and how they all came together.

I knew I wanted to add a banner across the top, so the new Lighthearted Letters stamp set was a great way for me to add some personalization to my canvas.

I stamped the letters onto some white card stock and punched them out with a small circle punch.

I sponged the edges with Walnut stain distress ink and gave it a coating of Rock Candy Crackle paint.

Here's a detailed shot.

Next I pulled out the Forever Fall set and stamped that gorgeous wood grain heart onto a die cut heart that was just a bit larger.

 I got the multi-inked colors by inking the heart up with my Tim Holtz Distress Markers. I also covered this with a coat of crackle paint. I added some felt leaves that I die cut and stitched with my machine. A navy button completed my cluster. I adhered them all to my canvas with some hot glue.

Hey, check out those sweet little bird silhouettes.  I stamped them randomly here and there on my painted canvas. They are actually pumpkin top stamp from Forever Fall. If you turn them a bit, they looked like birds to me. Love that!

This beautiful sentiment is also from the Forever Fall set. I cut a fishtail flag banner piece and added some paint to it. When the paint dried, I gave it a quick coating of gesso and let it dry. Once it was dried (I used my heat gun to speed up the process) I stamped the words with my black archival ink. When that dried, I gave the whole tag a coating of my Matte Medium for extra protection.

One last detail shot of the edges of my canvas. I wanted to show you that I covered all the edges of my canvas with paint for a finished, polished look.

I hope you’ve enjoyed hopping with us today. Be sure and hop with us on the 8th of EVERY MONTH for more REVERSE CONFETTI inspiration!
