MFt March Creative Challenge

This month with MFT, the DT was challenged to use our die-namics to create a Home Decor' item.  This certainly was a Challenge.....but I had a great inspiration piece and wanted to recreate it.  I had seen the cutest pillow (I need to find the picture) and it's been in my head ever since. I really stepped out of my comfort zone and SEWED!!!!
I know, you're sayin', "you sew on your cards all the time!"  But that's it, I only sew paper, BUT not any more.....I acutally sewed fabric and I'm so proud of myself!  Look at what I made.

Let me start  by saying....I am no seamstress and this whole process was very Beginner-esque. I want to show you how easy this was to make. If I can do it, you can.  I didn't follow any patter, nor did I even measure. 

I first cut my felt pieces-3 rolled flowers in fun colors, a bunch of leaves with the new Upsy Daisy Flower builder die-namic (love the size of those leaves), and 2 brown Simply Scallops strips (those were my gage for how wide to make my pillow-1 strip length).

Then I cut 2 rectangles with the canvas fabric, again, just estimating by what looked right to me.  I wanted a long skinny accent pillow.

I hand sewed the leaves to the flowers, and stitched the completed flowers to the "right" side of the pillow.

I then pieced the scallop edges together, between the fabric pieces and pinned them inside out. Then I used my sewing machine to stitch around the fabric, leaving a small opening to add the stuffing later.  

 After the sewing, I turned my fabric right-side-out, gently pulling the fabric through the small opening I left.

 Once I had the pillow on the correct side, I began stuffing it with Poly-fill (I bought a small package at Joanne's). I just kept stuffing until it was full enough and looked good to me.  Then I hand-sewed the little opening to complete the pillow.

 And the scallop edges-there is one of these on each side.

You all would have laughed at me, once I finshed flipping the pillow right-side-out.  I was squealing with delight OUT LOUD! My two boys that were home just looked at me like I was soooo weird, you know, like kids do when they think their parents are nuts! LOL! I love it. The pop of color with the neutral browns! I'm sure I'll move it down to my craft room, to display on my shelf, but it does look cute on my micro-suede couch!
