Winter Wonderland!

It's an off day around here, literally. My kids don't have school on election day so they are home and it's totally thrown off my day and I'm sure the rest of the week. We are going to have some fun at the movies this afternoon. We're taking them to see Where the Wild Things Are.
I worked hard yesterday on the Guest Designer challenge for MFT. OMG, have you seen the sneak peeks of their new line? They are A-dorable beyond belief. Every month they offer up a guest designer spot for the following month with a challenge right before the release (which is wed. night, btw). This month's challenge was to make a mostly white card. I looooove how this all came together. I added lots of embossing, dry and wet, stitching, and fun MFT stamps (Grow Love, Baby it's Cold Outside, and an Owl for all Seasons). I wanted to make a wintry forest-like scene. I used kraft cs and softened them up with some frosty white shimmer paint. I stamped and cut out the trees and embossed each layer. On the top layer of the round tree, I embossed some snowflakes from the owl set with clear embossing powder and then sponged on some mellow moss ink to make the white snowflakes really pop. It felt unbalanced, so I then debossed the second, pointy tree and sponged on the mellow moss ink, too. That left the inside of the debossed snowflakes white, as well. I also embossed the snowflakes in the background of the white square layer. here are some detail shots.
and then some stitching details. Aren't those hills just the best! I've always done them with a straight stitch, but I really love them with the zig zag stitch! I finished the card off with a pop of red with the rhinestones, a buttony bow, and the sentiment. Thanks for stopping by! See you tomorrow. Hugs, Lisa
