A few more layouts!

Do you have BIG plans for New Year's Eve? Nothing big here, but we will be spending the evening with some good friends and that is big to me. I am sure we will be snug in our beds well before midnight, and that is fine with me too! Tim is working today and tomorrow and has to be up early so that means an early night for us. Plus the baby will be ready for bed by 9, 9:30 anyway. What ever you may be doing tonight, keep safe and have fun!
How funny is this page? It just makes me giggle at how silly the boys can be. Nicolas walked around for a long time with this bucket on his head, just cracking himself up and everyone else that was there, too! The layout came from Amy. It was a quick and easy one, love those. Check out here blog here. This next one was the wrap up of Joshua's birthday.

See you in 2009! Thanks for a fabulous year!

More Hearts!

I had this card brewing in my head for the last day. I just had to run down stairs this morning and pull it together. The pretty paper is by Pink Paisley, the stamp is from Giggle Grove (Unity) and the ribbon is red twill. You can get all these and the distressed stickles (there are dots on the each of the scallops, can't see it well in this photo) over at Limelight! OOOO, and you can get it all (plus whatever else you want) for 15% off now through Jan.4 (enter BALLDROP, all one word at checkout)!Isn't the layout great, that came from Amber. She posts these great sketches over in the Unity forum each week. Thanks for stopping by! Happy Monday!

Scrap Happy!

Here are a few layouts I did up over the past few weeks. I'm still working my way through the boys birthday pictures from last year. I'm feeling the pressure to get them done since their 2009 Birthdays are just around the corner. Yes, we just celebrated Christmas and now I am gearing up for Joshua's day on the 8th of Jan. MORE PRESENTS! Where-O-Where will we put them? Then Ryan and Nicholas (and me, too) have theirs a month later. This first layout is from Nicholas's 1st birthday and my 33rd! We share the same birthday and I think it is the best!
This next page is just one I wanted to capture on paper. Tim said something the other day that just stuck with me. Ryan is our middle child and he is so lucky because he has 2 Best Friends. He truly is best friends with both of his brothers. He has a unique and special bond with each of them. It is so fun to see the differences in his bond with each of them. It is cool to see him be such a Big Boy when hanging out with Joshua (his older brother) but then turn around and act like a little kid when doing stuff with Nicholas (his younger brother). I just eat it up!

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the weekend!

I'm back!

Was it a whirl-wind holiday for you, too? Man, did Christmas just fly by for us. We had a wonderful couple days (and last weekend) with family. The kids made it all worth it, and definitely helped fill us all with the spirit of Christmas. I have only stamped once in a little over a week. I squeezed in a few cards on Tuesday afternoon. This was one of them. It was for the SCS color challenge-orchid opulence, so saffron, and cameo coral! Sounds like a doosie, but it wasn't. I found some of my favorite retired SU dsp, Linen prints, and the pack has some of the prettiest cameo coral paper. I used that for my starting point, along with the cutest little tree set, Tiny Trinity from Unity Stamp Co. I got it from my Secret Santa this year (thanks, Kim (doodersmom9)!!) but you can get it from Limelight! I love that Mandy carries a fabulous selection of Unity. Don't forget, Everything is on Sale in the Limelight store until Dec.28!!! Shop now to save 20% on your whole order! Enter XmasGift (one word) at checkout. Limelight Papercrafts.

Hip Hop Hangover

This is post #2, again for the second Friday in a row! Please scroll down to see the Stamp Something Challenge!
I had fun joining the Unity peeps in the Hip Hop Hangover blog hop last week so I wanted to play along again this week. Plus, I made two super cute cards I just wanted to share. I just couldn't help myself, I have to get a stamping fix almost everyday. Although, I won't be stamping again until Monday since we are heading to Michigan for Christmas with my family! I can't wait to see my parents and my siblings and my nieces and nephew. Plus, just about all my girlfriends from HS are in town (there was a big group of us, so this is a huge deal) and we are getting together Sunday morning for brunch! It should be a fabulous weekend. I just hope the weather holds up! Snow and ice are in the forecast. Anyway, I'll overload you today with two posts! Here you go, the two cards I did for the Hip Hop challenges.
This one was for a distress challenge-anyway you want, distress your edges! I tore my edges and then sponged on some Ocean Tides ink. Hey, look, I used my machine again today! I love when I get it threaded! The images are from the November KOTM (it's my FAVE!).

This next card was for the Pie color challenge and it was inspired by my travels that I was thinking about when I was stamping. The chocolate cs is for the crust, the reddish dp is my pie filling (cherry pie, yummy!) and the vanilla is for the whipped cream (can't have pie without the whipped cream, although I'm a Cool Whip kinda girl). Thanks for hoppin' by! Have a wonderful weekend.

Hugs, Lisa

Stamp Something-two weeks to get it done!

Yes, that's right. With the holiday upon us (yikes! Christmas is only a week away!! are you ready for it?) we decided to stretch out this week's challenge. So there is no excuse to not play along. We have a sketch for you to work with this week and/or next! A winner will be drawn on Jan.1, 2009!!! What a great way to start the new year! This challenge is sponsored by the fabulous DSR Designs! I love these little butterflies and the cool background (it looks like cracked glass) I used on this card. I did them up with some Pale Plum and Very Vanilla cs from SU and the beautiful Ocean Tides from PTI. I popped up the butterflies with some dimensionals and tied the oh-so-lovely Plum satin ribbon from PTI in a bow for my third panel. I hope you all take a little time for yourself and Stamp Something! Be sure to stop by and see what the DT came up with. You know it will be beautiful stuff! Have a wonderful holiday! Hugs, Lisa

Limelight sketch and paper challenge

Are the presents bought and wrapped? Is the tree decorated? Are the holiday lights twinkling? Is your head spinning faster than a dreidel? It's the most wonderful time of the year! This week we encourage you to stop, and take a minute to do something for yourself! Grab your favorite patterned papers (or wrapping paper for the multitask-ers!) and sit down with our simple sketch. We can't wait to see what you'll create! We are a week early here for another round of a sketch challenge with Limelight, BUT we figured we'd have better participation if we posted it this week instead of next week (which is Christmas!).

  • Sketch and Product Challenge with a focus on your favorite Limelight patterned paper.

  • Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC011.

  • Participants should post a comment and a link to their card on Mandy's blog, all entries must be submitted by Sunday, December 21st, at midnight.
Here is how I used the sketch.

I love when I can take a card sketch and use it on a scrapbook page. I just flipped it to work with the orientation of my picture. We took the boys to see Santa on Monday and I only ordered 1 picture, this 5x7. I was afraid it might get lost from now until I am ready to scrap it so I went ahead and put a quick page together. Isn't that paper fun?! It is from TaDa and it is called Okee Dokee-Pokee Dot (even the name it fun)! The buttons are the Wassail buttons from Basic Grey and the ribbon is the gorgeous new satin ribbon Mandy added to the store a month ago. Come play along, link your creations to Mandy's blog and you could win, are you ready for this? Mandy is in a very generous mood (she is always generous with her give aways, but I'm super excited about this one!) she will give the winner a brand-new Basic Grey Bittersweet 6x6 paper pad!!! How cool is that? Enough incentive to play? Get to it and have fun with the sketch!

Ahhhh, a breath of Urban Garden!

YES! I couldn't resist the color challenge yesterday over at SCS: Baja breeze, Kiwi kiss, and Basic Grey!!! It was a no brainer to pull out my beloved Urban Garden dsp! It has been my favorite paper since the catty came out and it has been a while since I used it. Keeping it short this week, so here is the card.

Here are the deets:

Paper-Baja textured cs, kiwi, basic grey, whisper white, Urban garden

Ink-basic grey, kiwi, not quite navy, baja

Stamps-Sweet stems, Love you Much

Accessories: blender pen, basic grey taffeta, button bouquet, dimensionals, corner rounder, and the only non-SU item is the swirl cuttlebug embossing folder.

Today is cookie day! I'm hoping to get two or three varieties done. The boys have been bugging me to decorate cookies. I think they just can't wait to eat the little candies and lick the frosting. That was always my favorite part, what am I saying, it still is! hehehe!

Mail Day

This is the mail pile I had going last week. I thought it was fun staging for my Christmas card. I mailed out around 63 and then hand delivered about another 12 cards. I love making my cards, but I am also soooo relieved when they are done and out the door! Here is a close up of the card. It was nice and simple to put together. Quite a few steps to put it all together, but it was nothing tedious, like coloring or embossing. I think the top note die is just the right touch! Keep scrolling down and I added a picture of what the inside of the card looks like. I always include a picture of the boys in my card and I do nothing fancy to attach it. I simply cut down the 4x6 picture and adhere it to the inside flap of the card. I do use a repositionable adhesive, so it can be removed from the card if need be. Happy Monday!

Last of My Christmas Stuff

I think I am done stamping Christmas projects for this year. I'm ready to move on the the next stamping holiday. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT over Christmas, I can't wait for it to get here. The next week is full of fun and holiday cheer! This is the version of my photo ornaments that I am giving the grandparents. I used the top note die and the designer paper , Holiday Treasure to do this one up. I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Cute and Curly stamp set but I omitted the "dear friend" part since we are giving this to Nana and Papa. I decided it was important to include the year so I stamped 2008 in that space on the label using Simple Serif mini alphabet. I added some celery grosgrain ribbon and two beautiful felt fusion snowflakes to finish this side of the ornament. On the flip side of the ornament I die cut the picture we used in our Christmas cards to complete the backside of the ornament. I just adored making these and look forward to hearing the grandparents gush over them when they open them next weekend. Hope you all are enjoying the weekend. I might have one or two more Holiday posts to share since I am not doing much new stamping this week-There are cookies to bake and presents to wrap.

Hip Hop Hangover

Please note, this is the SECOND POST FOR TODAY! DON'T FORGET TO SEE THE STAMP SOMETHING CREATIONS!

I decided to join in the fun this week and link my Unity creations from yesterday to give you some eye candy! Thursday's are Hip Hop day (I've won something the past few weeks!) and it is full of fun and give aways, not to mention, TONS of inspiration from the fabulous DT! Some of us Unity addicts wanted to continue the fun and so the Hip Hop Hangover thread was created. Make sure you stop by the Unity Blog so you can see the list of Hangover Hip Hoppers!

This first card was for the two layer challenge. This is always hard for me since I like to mat my main image or add some designer paper to my cards. I played up the ribbon and kept the focus on the fun Christmas List stamp.

This second card was for the Bling and Bauble challenge. I added the dew drops to each of the scalloped edge of the dp. Isn't that paper so cute! You can get it over at Limelight, it is by Pink Paisley. And in case you are new to my blog, you can also get Unity stamps at the Limelight Paper craft store. Which then leads me to my next reminder-today is day 12 of Limelight's 12 Days of Christmas! Mandy is the host today, so stop by and play along for a chance to win some Shimmerz! Have a great Friday!

Busy, Busy Days

I know everyone is busy, busy, so I am going to try to keep this short. Today is a Stamp Something day sponsored by our own Denise Lynn and her fabulous new line of stamps (her own company!) Whimsy Stamps!!! If you haven't heard about them or seen them, you need to. They are the cutest little critters! Today is a Green and Gold challenge. In the last week I have played along in two challenges asking for the use of gold products (ink, ribbon, brads, whatever you have that is gold), guess what? I own none of it. Yes, I found a missing piece to my stamping supplies-GOLD. I don't usually care for gold stuff on my cards, so that is why I don't own any of it, BUT I have seen so many pretty things created with it. I really think I need to get some ink, or at least embossing powder. Anyway, I told you I'd keep this short and here I am rambling on about gold. I decided to pull out a Golden Yellow color today. Actually I was excited to pull from my stash of retired SU In Colors-wasabi and Marigold Morning! I colored the little turtle with my copics and added some crystal effects ( I think I used that on most things I stamped this week!) for texture and detail. I have to give credit to Queen Kat designs for the layout, it was in their newsletter. Stop by the Stamp Something blog, and see what the other girls came up with this week, it's sure to be fabulous! Oh, and take a break from Holiday preparations to play along for a chance to some Whimsy Stamps! Just be sure to link your creation up on the Stamp Something site!

Limelight sketch Challenge day!

It is the second Thursday of the month, so that means it's time for a beautiful sketch challenge from the oh-so-talented Brandi. Here's what you need to do:

There's something magical about falling flakes of snow that has the ability to captivate both those young and old. Whether it's your first snowfall or your 50th, you can't help but be mesmerized by the beauty of falling snow. Today we celebrate snow and say "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!" Let's see those snowflakes and snowmen stamps! Mesmerize us with snowy fun flock hills and glistening trees covered in snow. Anything with snow goes in this sketch and product challenge!

  • Sketch and Product Challenge using anything that reminds you of snow! Snowflakes, snowmen, snow covered trees...anything!
  • Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC010
  • Participants should post a comment and a link to their card on Mandy's blog, all entries must be submitted by Sunday, December 14th, at midnight for a chance to win one of the snow glitters.

Here's the sketch and here is my card. I'm just lovin' the Lily and Billy Winter set from Pink Cat Studio. It is just sooo cute. I decided to just use Lily on my card and I glammed her up with some awesome Distressed stickles in Worn Lipstick. I also added some Angel Wings shimmerz to the ice, can never have enough shimmer and shine! Take a look at a close up of the detail on her coat and ear muffs. I always have fun making a girly girl card. I added the circle to the sketch because I couldn't work in a sentiment anyother way. I hope you play along. Be sure to check out what the other 7 chicks did for this sketch (list is in my side bar). Have a wonderful Thurday.

Take a break from Christmas cards

Here's a cute little baby girl card I did last week. A friend asked me to make a card for her daughter's teacher, who is due any day now. I thought the hippo from Pun Fun worked perfectly for a baby card, and paired with pink pirouette and barely banana IT did turn out perfectly!

Now back to Christmas business. Be sure to stop by Tiff's blog for a fun game of Mad Libs, Christmas style and a chance to win a prize. Also, today's special over at Limelight is:

Candlelight Shimmerz for only $3!!!

Happy stamping!

On the 9th Day of Christmas...

...Limelight gave to me-a chance to win some glitter and a cool stamp! Check out JenMaries blog to play her fun game. Also today's special in the Limelight store is
Prima Sprites for only $3.50!
I do have a fun card to share with you today. It is kind of a sneak peek to my sketch card I'll be sharing on Thursday. Ever wonder how many NEW things you can use on one card? This one has almost everything new-to-me on it. I made this right after I got my package last week from Limelight (can I just tell you that the shipping is lightening fast! thanks Mandy!). The card base is SU mellow moss and I colored with Copics and the snowflake brad is from Micheals, but everything else is from Limelight! Have you tried the new distress stickles? If you haven't go get some. They are super cool and add a nice texture to your creations. They are a little chunkier and a little less sparkly than the regular stickles. You will like them, I promise. Besides, its always fun to have something new to play with.

We got our Christmas picture last night! Can you believe it only took 6 tries. The boys were so good and cooperative. My littlest one just loves the camera, so that made it easy. He kept saying "cheese!" and smiling so cute each picture we took. I uploaded the picture and sent it off to Sam's Club to be developed (what did we ever do without digital photo processing). I'll pick them up today and add them to my cards (which I did finish last night). I am right on track for my Wednesday mail day goal. I keep knocking things off my list and boy does it feel good! Hope you are making way with your Holiday to-do lists.

Don't Forget!

Today is the 8th day of Christmas over at Limelight! Stop by to see what is on SALE today and be sure to check out Sarah's blog for her fun game and a chance to win a prize (it's a Unity stamp)!

For all my Stampin' Peeps!

OMG! I knew I had to have this set the moment I saw it. I know I make a lot of purchases for myself on stamps, but I really am not an impulse shopper. I usually really think about my purchases and make sure I know that I will get lots of used out of what I buy. Not with this set, as soon as I saw this sentiment, I knew it was mine! I do not work for this company, nor do I design for them, I just like their stamps. There She Goes is a relatively newer stamp company. Go check them out and take a look at the new set they just released, Crafty Taglines. As a paper crafter, I know you will love them. I bought another little mini set, it is super cute too and inexpensive (only $5!). I'm off for a day full of "wrapping up loose ends". Thanks so much for stopping by and I just want to say how much I love each and every comment you all leave. It feels good to have so many friends! You all are the best!

The Six Chicks, The Sixth Day of Christmas and goodies to share!

Today is the 6th of December, and on the 6th of each month The Six Chicks (Limelight DT members, plus the 7th Chick, Tiffany Johnson, this month's guest designer) put on our project parade. This month we were challenged to come up with a treat or baked goods container with a coordinating card or recipe card. First I'll tease you with the treat. Yum, Chocolate covered pretzels are a favorite treat of mine. They are so easy to make. You just melt some chocolate chips and stir in a little bit of cream or Cool Whip. You can do this over a double boiler, but the microwave works just fine. Be sure to stop every 20-30 seconds to give it a stir. I usually do this with pretzel rods, but they were too tall to fit in my canister. I just dipped the pretzels in the chocolate and added red and green sprinkles to them. For a variation, I sometimes add a tablespoon of peanut butter to the melted chocolate chips-YUM! I confess, I make this in small batches some evenings after I put the boys to bed for a little evening snack. I just dip the pretzels right into the bowl. hehehehe!

Stamps: Stocking of Elegance (Unity) and Birds of a Feather (Unity)Paper: Bazzil Canvas Maraschino cs, TaDa-FaLaLaLa, Dashing thru the snowInk: copics, tuxedo black MomentoAccessories: rectangle nestabilities, MayArts Ribbon-textured brown/antique gold

I had quite a few of these tins sitting in my craft room so I put a few of them to good use this year (I did use them last year too, but it has been awhile since I made them all pretty again). With a little red line sticky tape I was able to transform this silver canister into this pretty packaging for the yummy chocolate covered pretzels. As you can see, I used the same elegant stocking image on the matching card. I did another gift combo using very similar products, but this time I decorated a kraft coffee bag and used a penguin image from the Unity kit, Jolly Little Winter. The friend I was sending this gift to, doesn't celebrate Christmas but I still wanted to include her in my gift giving this year. This kit is just the cutest non-Holiday Wintry set. Both of these little treat holders came together really quickly. I know how pressed for time we all are this time of year and I wanted to show you that you don't have to spend a lot of time creating great packaging for whatever little goodies you want to share with friends, family and neighbors this year. Now be sure to check out what the other six chicks came up with. I think you'll find some fabulous recipes too. Follow the links below for easy blog hopping.

Snow Something

This is going to be short and sweet today and the card is clean and simple. The focus this week is on snow. Stamp something snow related! As you can see I have snowflakes on my dsp (Frosty Days from SU!) and a giant felt flurry snowflake in white. The sentiment is from Unity (Jolly Little Winter). Easy, Fun Christmas Ornament-Last Minute Gift Idea

Last month, the LimeLight DT shared some wonderful Christmas ornament ideas with you. If you remember, I created a picture keepsake ornament with a photo of my boys on one side and a stamped image on the opposite side. I got the idea from myself, from a project I sent in to Stampin' Up! the month before. My ornaments didn't get picked for their monthly contest, but I've been dying to share them with you all. I love how they turned out and I even love how inexpensive they are to make. You just need some chipboard and your favorite stamping supplies (paper, ribbon, and stamps if you want). I love also love that you have two ornaments in one, because you get to decorate both sides. This giant scalloped circle one is my favorite. I added the Merry Christmas sentiment from a Cardinal Christmas to the bottom of the photo. The next one I'll show you was created with the Top Note die, just like the ornament I did for my Limelight project. This one uses the I Wish Simply Scrappin' kit along with the beautiful felt ribbon Stampin' Up! carries this winter. I even added our personalized stamp to this ornament so I could sent this out as our Christmas Card to some special family members this year. I hope this gives some of you some easy last minute gift ideas. These are those "perfect" grandparent gifts. Take the idea and run with it, make it your own. You could really use any fun shape die to create your own personalized ornament. Happy Stamping!

And the winner is....

I just did the drawing the old fashion way, no random integer here. So the name I drew for the prize was:

On the third day of Christmas

Today is day 3 of the Limelight 12 Days of Christmas Fun and Challenges. Be sure to stop by Jess's Blog for her game and give away. Also, Limelight has a surprise special running each day, so stop by there to check out what the sale of the day is. I do have a card to share today. This was for Lee's challenge yesterday. She had an amazing inspiration piece for us, a gorgeous view she gets to look at every day!

I pulled out some retired SU colors and papers and used the Season of Joy (this one is still current) to create this card. The picture doesn't show it off too well, but there are sparkly swirls over the trees that I embossed with Irridescent Ice embossing powder. Thanks for stopping by. You still have a chance to play along with my 1st Day of Christmas challenge. I will post the winner around 7pm this evening (EST). Happy stamping!

On the First Day of Christmas....

My true love gave to me, A partidge in a pear tree! You all know the song and I'm sorry for the fact that you may be singing it in your head all day. Today the fun starts over at Limelight. Actually it starts here with ME! I have a challenge for you today and a chance to win a great prize.
You are to create a card with a Bird and a Tree image. That's it, nice and simple. It doesn't even have to be a Christmas card (as you can see, I took a break from the Christmas theme). All you have to do is leave me a comment with a link to your creation and I will draw a name for the lucky winner. I will have one of my little guys pull the name out of a hat (they love to do this). And Everyone who plays will get their name in for the Grand Prize at the end of our 12 Days of Christmas (Mandy is doing the drawing for that). You have until Wednesday (12/3) to play and link your card for the prize drawing.

So wanna know what you are playing for? The lucky winner will get a Jumbo Get Rollin' from Clearsnap (you can stick acrylic stamps around this and create your own background to roll!)
I used my favorite Unity stamp kit, Giggle Grove, along with the sentiment from Hey Chick! on this card. Check out that paper, it is the very cool Core'dinations, Black Magic cardstock. This paper is so cool, especially if you dry emboss it and then give it a little rub with a sanding block. That's how I made the cool, pink, pin dots show through (I used the swiss dots embossing folder first, then sanded lightly).
If you can hang on a little longer here, I have one more thing to share with you-a quick little ribbon tutorial. I had a few people ask me a couple weeks ago, how I did this bow. It is called a tailored bow and it is very simple to do. Here is how I do it:
Step 1: Cut a piece of ribbon twice the length you want your finished bow to be. And then cut a second piece of ribbon just a bit longer than the width of the ribbon you are using.
Step 2: Apply glue dots to both ends on the backside of the longer ribbon piece.Step 3: Fold in the ends of the ribbon, so they meet in the middle. This is creating your loops. The next picture show the ribbon with both sides folded in.
Step 5: To finish the tailored bow, simply wrap the small cut piece of ribbon around the middle of the loops, attaching with glue dots.

Here is another view of the finished bow. As you can see, I used it on my card today. I just love putting these together and they give a great, clean look to any project! Thanks for hanging with me today. Don't forget to play along with my little challenge and the games all 12 Days with the rest of the Limelight DT!

Hugs, Lisa
